1200 DVT Mutley Seat Slope

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by HootOwl, May 31, 2020.

  1. Fellow Mutlertarians, what's the solution (if any) to the standard DVT seat pitching the rider forward into the tank?
I dont really want to raise the seat height, but is there another seat that maybe saves ones gentlemans parts from being pitched against the tank all the time ? :D

.. and will I need to sell the bike to be able to afford it if there is ? ;)

  2. Seat rebuild, mine was 90 quid. Bargain, massively better.

  3. DP Touratech comfort seat, expensive but works well. Got my rider seat 2nd hand off of a member here and the pillion one from Ducati Manchester when they bought a container load of parts from Duacti a while back, was half price. Assume that Ducati get rid to DMC as this was for the 1200 but the seats for the 1200 and 1260 are the same, wasn't going to complain...

  6. Sargent cured i ton my 2014. And they have a liberal return policy if you want to try before you buy.

  7. I had one reshaped by a local outfit, now I have another one in production to modify it taller, when I eventually get it back I shall be selling the first one.

  8. Also had my seat re sculpted, removed as much of the rear slope as the base pan would allow, also had the seat padded to form a wider, seat area , like a Sargent style seat, think old tractor seat shape.. Much better for distance work..

  9. Might you have any info, I suffer with shorty legs, DP low seat is shit so looking for another way to achieve my aim. My MTS is 1200s skyhook so seat is different to DVT I believe?

  10. IME the Touratech one seems narrower and no higher than the low. I’m only a 29” inseam dwarf so if I can do it then anyone can...

  11. 29 inside... you lucky so and so..I’m 28 inside leg!! Maybe I will get me some 1970s platform boots!

  12. I am 27" - and needed Ducati Low Seat - that had same issue - but after a while - you don't notice it... and as you get older - you don't need the squashed bits anyway very often...

  14. The dp touratech is better than stock. But Sargent is a big step up for comfort for me. Service in US excellent with seat delivered in five work days.

  15. Mine is a 1200 Enduro. Different again!

Anyway the chap I took it to has closed his business down now (ill health) but he 'reprofiled' it so it was higher and slightly wider in the centre section, flattened the rear section, and added a gel pad thing.

The seat doesn't push me forward any more and is much more comfortable. It's slightly higher than standard but that's fine as I have a nice health 36" inside leg.

  16. If you find the std seat comfortable enough it might just need a different cover. You could get someone to do this or even attempt it yourself? The Touratech DP seat is a different shape but also the cover is much less slippery compared to the original and stops you sliding forward to start with.

  17. Maybe I could try some panty liners in the front of my jeans to help protect my gentlemans department? They would have the added benefit of me not needing to stop every half mile for a pee too, seeing I appear to have reached that desirable stage of life :)

Failing that, looks like I need a touratech seat then. Thanks for the help all ;)

  18. Or, a cheaper option still. You could grip the tank with your knees like your a motogp racer! Engage the gluteus maximus for the full workout:confounded:

  19. My glute was never made for gripping :) It is very well designed for sitting and doing SFA on :D
