i've racked my brains and either lucky or low expectations. I remember feeling sleepy during Mike Oldfield at Festival Hall.
Nickelback at Hammersmith. I think it was the end of there European tour. They got so drunk 4 or 5 songs in our whole group got up and left.
Two major disappointments for me , around 1979- early 1980s, brain a bit foggy at that period, anyway boring and totally stoned etc where Thin Lizzy and Santana.
Neil Diamond at Hampden, Glasgow. Paid for four tickets (£240) Arrived late and saw 40 minutes. Mooned by an old dear in her 60's. Watched the disabled section dancing in their wheelchairs. Atmosphere was electric.....
I got dragged down to Cardiff by my wife and her friends to see Madonna. Madonna is a tiny, weeny, screechy woman, barely more than half an inch tall, seen from the other end of a stadium
Florence & The Machine at the NEC Birmingham about 18 months ago. They seemed to have very little idea how to construct a show that would grab and keep the audiences attention and she waffled on about toxic masculinity instead. Made me want to....insert toxic masculine comment here.... Shame as I had been looking forward to the show.
It was a free ticket but still not worth the money. They left the stage for about 15 minutes at one point and just left the gear twanging away to itself. A large majority of the audience wore corduroy jackets with elbow patches...
I saw Status Quo perform at the Silverstone Classic 2 years ago, shortly before Rick Parfitt sadly passed away. It was not good and with hindsight, Rick was seriously ill and should not have been performing. Wasn’t helped by a significant obnoxious element in the audience who clearly couldn’t hold their alcohol. Andy
and on the flip side of that... one of the very best gigs , and I went every week to at least 1 or 2 gigs then was The Quo in 1979-1980 at Hammersmith Odeon. Balcony bouncing like mad from beginning to end, played accurately and ferociously. In fact it does amaze me how a tight 3-4 piece band can be so awesome in sound ie Quo, ZZ Top, The Who, Wishbone Ash Motörhead sometimes!! Etc
