1260 1260 No More

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by hill100, Jun 11, 2020.

  1. Was in Ducati Glasgow today and was told that there are no more 1260 multis being made. The new V4 will be on sale in October. I asked if they were not going to run both multis. No only the new V4

  2. Perhaps I ought to sell my DVT now and bung an order in.

  3. Sounds about right, they'll be trying to recoup development costs of the V4. After all the mutley is by far the biggest seller. I imagine 3 iterations, base V4, a S version and an Enduro, maybe a PP but with the tragic loss of Carlin Dunne on the V4 SF i would not be surprised if there wasn't.

  4. 1260’s ... going cheap..

    Come and get yer 1260..

    Two fer a quid.!...;)

  5. Would love a V4 Mutley having borrowed a Panigale V4s for a day last year whilst my 1260 was being serviced. Don't think, with a house purchase this year, that's going to happen. Especially with Covid19 having driven a steam roller through both the house purchase and my earning potential over the last 3 months. Maybe 2022 is a possibility...

  6. I would never ever again buy a first Gen model.
    Did that with my 1199..:mad::mad:

  7. It wont steer me into buying one. The current (and the 1200) DVT is more than enough for anyone on the road and does everything better than well. You cannot get better than perfect ;)

  8. Spy shots of test bike show:
    19” front wheel
    Double sided swing arm
Narrower than 190 section rear wheel

  9. Well it won't be on my shopping list, unless it has a single sided swingarm of course ;)

  10. Hopefully lots of low mileage used 1260’s for me to choose from then?

  12. Maybe they have been using the unplanned closure to retool the factory early - so that they do not have 2 extended shut downs this year... that way they have a chance to recover some of their lost sales....?

  13. It’s possible That they are now doing that, but trying to do that when everyone in Italy is locked in their homes including suppliers and contractors would have been difficult.
Perhaps Glasgow have jumped the gun?? Ive talked to two dealers who say that there’s no release date yet and they are still ordering 1260’s in the same way but with a longer lead time.
Either we shall have to wait..... Very few spy shots, and of a bike that will not replace the 1260 Like for like due to its geometry and set up. But they may of course simply drop the current and go a different route???

  14. My guess is there is a stock of 1260's made over the winter period anyway for this year... I imagine they stock pile during the winter all models - to keep the factory running and deal with peak demand from March to September...

  15. That’s possible, but I was told that each dealer can only order a very small number to stock, each bike is specific to a customer order. Certainly if you order a PP.
Interestingly when I took the side panels off my 2020 model each one was signed, dated and had part of the order number on them in pencil. The dates were 4 weeks after my order date and two days apart. So absolutely no doubt it was a specific build.
Everything gets leaked these days. I should imagine there’s lots of speculative photographers outside the Duke factory, if its coming soon there will be lots more photos. Has there been any info from the spied bike reg??

  16. Most rumours come from dealers who like to think that they know the manufacturers policies.

  17. Not quite sure how the bike market is run, certainly not with Ducati anyway. I think the Jap bikes are imported through a countries head importer and dealer purchase from them and a projected forecast is ordered for the year, once they’re gone that’s it. With MV I believe they changed tack to the dealers ordering directly from the factory in Italy and being the size they are they would tool up to make Brutale’s one week and then F4’s the next and so on, so depending what you wanted and what was being made that week would determine how long you waited?
Id be surprised if Ducati stockpiled models though, it’s an expensive way of doing things unless they have extremely favourable agreements with their parts suppliers?

  18. The Glasgow dealer said they had tried to order more 1260's but there are no more to be had

  19. The global economy is in disarray and easily expected to last 10+ years to become the Greater Depression.
The planet is going into hyper-stagflation.
Those that have 1260's are likely to keep them (if they can) as purchasing a new version will be out of the question for many.
