Hi, I've just upgraded to the 950 from my previous 939. My 939 would pop up off the clutch in 2nd no dramas at all. The 950 it feels like something electronic stops it, it kinda bogs down....??? I have another guy I've been speaking to has the exact same problem & he stunts his 939. I have setting set at: DTC: Off ABS: 1 ( you cant turn it off ) DWC: off Engine setting: Sport/dynamic I wish i test rode the 950 first because i would have kept my 939. Shame really as the 950 is so much better looking. Any help would be great. Paul
It's a new bike. Maybe there's actually Ducati limiting going on until 1st service? Ask the dealer...
Hey Keith! Im going to ring them tomorrow and see what the say, they said i can rev it upto 6.5k untill first service. Luckily 80% of the torque is available from 3k so still a hoot to ride within break in. But a little pop of the clutch in 2nd & the bike kinda shuts off, like traction control on a car. Weird.....
Typical 1100 owner. Read the stats on the 950 torque & bhp compared to the 1100 & come back to me. It power wheelies no problem but i always clutch it up for a slower wheelie, pop it up straight to balance & moderate with the rear brake.
I think he clutches it? Im unsure. He might just be tugging the bars like i have been for now. I don't go through gears chasing them out, i prefer to stay in one gear high enough to wheelie quite far & slower.
This was on my 939, you can see....i peep over the handlebars or sometimes look under them. My GoPro is mounted on my chin @Simon Audi
Maybe the abs kicking in? If clutching up, back tyre could spin / loose traction a bit, then front wheel speed doesn't match rear wheel speed?? particularly when the front comes up. Just a guess, i’m no expert.
When ABS Is on its lowest setting (1) its rear ABS only & doesn't take the front wheel into consideration. Also if you disable the ABS completely by removing the fuse the issue is still there. From speaking to a good few people around the globe, the 950 doesn't like a quick smack of the revs & clutch pop, it has to be gentle rev & pop. As for power wheelies, if it powers up out of a bend etc i will let is rise to balance & ride it also but I prefer to start my wheelies slower.
Never clutched a wheelie in my 1100evo just roll it on in 2nd then up through the box probably changing up around 6k, gets a bit leary touching down in 5th. ( dont do it in the wet, front may wash out...)
Hi, new member i came here the other day wondering the same thing because i prefer to clutch them up too. After talking to a guy i think i may have found the solution, but it has a trade off. There is a safety feature built in that cuts the power if the revs climb above 7500rpm and the clutch is popped. Must be to stop people looping them. Its controlled by the clutch switch. To get around it you need to override (hotwire) it to make the the ecu think the clutch is closed when it isnt. Then you can pop it as normal. The trade of is the bike will only start in neutral one it has been done because it wont allow you to start in gear without the clutch pulled so the bike doesnt ride of on its own. If you mod the switch the wrong way and it thinks the clutch is always pulled it will limit you to 7500rpm and if you pressed the start button in gear without the clutch the bike will ride of on its own Im still running mine in but after its service ill be trying it with mine ✌
It will be interesting to see if this enables it to work. Im sure there was a guy that said something similar but when i checked my switch under lever, when i pop the clutch......it doesn't even touch the switch. Or are you saying that with this switch "technically pressed all the time" this will allow clutch ups?? Paul
I went out and looked at mine. Just under the clutch lever on my bike there is a little metal springy bit thst the lever pulls on to activate the switch. All i have done is bend it round to the other side of the catch so when you pull the clutch the soring wont press the switch. Easy fix and no tools needed ✌
I havnt actualy tried to pop it yet fyi. I assume it will work tho as when i was popping it the other day i could do mini clutch ups if i kept the revs down. I will take some photos in the morning and post them up for you if it has worked ✌ The guy who told me said his will wheelie and normal now so
