Hey everyone I want to change my 899 into reverse shift, the ducati reverse shift is no longer available BUT having spoken to them they reckon you can take the standard shifter apart and reverse the mechanical switch so it works under compression and not extension. Has anyone here heard of this before? I just don’t want to take it apart and never be able to get it back together again!
I have no idea if that can be done but by swapping the green (gnd) and black/violet (supply) wires at the connector you will reverse its function. ps. There not much inside it. The switch is soldered into an encapsulated circuit board so unless the whole board can be rotated through 180º I can't see how it can be done.
I’ve heard this before but I can’t see how? On a 959/1299 yes as they have autoblip so it’s a two way switch but the 899 is a single way switch? I’ll happily be proved wrong though as that’s a cheap simple fix for me. Have you actually done this on a 899?
As I said I’m hoping you’re right as it’s a simple fix, Ducati do a inline switch for the 959/1299 which does as you say but they don’t offer it for the 899, only give a whole new reverse shifter for the 8/1199 hopefully someone can confirm either way.
I just checked. You are of course correct, it uses a 2-wire system. So it looks like a mechanical fix is your only option.
Hi guys I posted what I did to my 1199 as it was only 1 way on a pull mechanism needed to be push but wasn't as simple as switching wires not sure on the 899 depends on the rod and the switch ie if it's 2 way?
