So - I've owned a Ducati for a grand total of three weeks (saw a 2003 Sport 620 going for a silly price, and couldn't resist). This morning I was about to ride to work and I noticed the left hand endcan looked as though it was a strange angle, and on closer inspection I realised that it was no longer bolted to the hanger - I presume the two bolts must have vibrated loose at some point. Obviously I'm keen to replace the missing bolts with exactly the right part rather than bodging it, but I haven't got a clue about where to source them from - any advice please?
Ducati dealer is a good start.... Joking aside most dealers have an amazing parts dept and can post out even the smallest part very quickly. If you know the size of the bolts then probolt is your best bet for non oem but your looking at individual bolts and not a made up kit. If you are unsure about specifying bolts have a look in the technical help section or on the probolt website as they have a good video. Ducati dealer probably less hassle. Hope you get it sorted but are you sure its missing bolts rather than snapped ones? Jc
Thanks for the helpful responses - I was just a bit worried that they might be an unusual Ducati-specific size/shape and I wouldn't be able to fine a readily available replacement, but it looks like that's not the case after all. Fairly certain they've gone missing, I had a quick look at the can this morning and there was nothing in the holes where the bolts go. Dread to think what would have happened if I'd set off for work before I noticed this morning...
Lucky find! There are a few bolts with fine pitches etc but generally its all normal stuff. Download a copy of a factory manual if you havent already and you will probably see quite a few bolts requiring threadloc. At least thats the case on my 749. I guess they just vibrated out so i woukd check the rest of the exhaust mounts while you have your tools out as you may find a few have worked loose. A friend of mine had a tl1000 that liked to snap the end can bolts due to vibration at high revs. Jc

Replacement bolts obtained from B&Q (I just assumed they'd be some special kind of expensive Ducati-specific fastener rather than a standard, run of the mill bolt) - going to leave them marinading in thread-lock overnight before re-attaching.
No need to leave them "marinading" over night, it won't achieve anything as the thread lock is anaerobic, i.e. the lack of air makes it go off.
Takes longer, but with some nice stainless steel socket cap head (allen) bolts you could carefully drill the head with a 1mm drill (go slow.....they break easy in stainless) and wire the two bolts together with some thin stainless wire.... AL
