I bought a MTS DS1000 last Christmas, It's my first bike with a steering bar above the steering-yoke in +30 years, A bike for everything and to share in company. In this days of confinement I and the most of us has lot of spare time to dedicate us to a lot of issues we normally don't have time for, I'm dedicating part of this time making things at my bikes, The initial idea was not modifying nothing at the MTS just making maintenance and some paint works at it. Changed air filter at this bike means unassambel half bike including fairings..... And it was just at that point I begun playing around looking at easy possible transformation just for fun. I have a lot Ducati parts laying around from former project bikes in my garage, from this came a ST fuel tank and a SS fairing, I tried them on and to be honest I like the idea and with some work they can be lined well making a nice shape (pics 1-2), But this is not what I want to do for this bike, I don't need another single seater or cafe racer, So this idea was discarded. I have take the decision making a naked version without cutting or braking no OEM parts at the bike.

Back to the MTS The Idea is to move the oil cooler to the right side without unplug nothing and then make a air scoop to bring fresh air to it. At the left hand side put a smaller and lighter battery make a cover and hide all cables and DME box etc... To begin I made some templates in cardboard just to have a look and make myself I idea about the design ( Some of you knows I a flintstone so no computer designs nor drawings, I just make)
I had a MT-03 front lamp laying in my basement since some years ago so at the moment it's the one to use, I feel it's to seen and a bit boring to use, But as I can't get parts or much materials this days I will just use what I have at home.. I begun with the positive moulds giving a them the the desired design,
If you find the scoop looks too bulky, you could use an alternative of creating the en vogue side addition at the momment of fins, no not him , on the side. You could angle these to guide the airflow to where you wish them whilst still maintaning a slimmer look using fins rather than a block scoop?.
Hi Paul It's just normal plastic coach body filler, I use insulation foam for frozen chambers as this one can be painted and support tinner. Its the same I used to make the SS fuel tank
The both side scoops have the shape correct shape (I believe..) and have been base coated. I will sand and paint them tomorrow, Once they harder it's time to wax and make the negative fiberglass moulds on them. I'm a bit worried about not having any good epoxy at home for the final parts, And to be honest I'm not sure about getting any this days, Normally i order this from Madrid or Greece but they are closed due to de virus.
I have still no epoxy but I have made some other things to this bike as I’m waiting. I retired the timing belt covers today as they was looking a bit waisted and old

I have been working finishing CF parts but I’m also repainting the bike as ithis was ia urgent need. I hope Be available spaying last colour and clear coat tomorrow, In my case it depends on whether as I paint outside my garage,
