Should Ducati Be Talking To Mm?

  1. Mick Doohan also chipped in yesterday so it’s more than just a rumour I guess?

  2. Ah, Autosport. Thanks. Andy

  3. I get your point Andy, either way the rumours, if not the deal itself yet, appear strong. My point remains the same, I’d be sounding him out

  4. And he was beaten by Dani Pedrosa in a Honda Cub race, so maybe he's not the GOAT after all.

  5. Sorry Symon, that wasn’t supposed to come across as a slight on Autosport. I haven’t read an Autosport for years but they always were regarded as a reputable magazine. Andy

  6. Bear in mind that Lorenzo was supposed to still be racing for Repsol this year so it is quite possible they had Alex Marquez pencilled in for LCR in 2021 all along but JL99 retiring messed up all their plans.

  7. Thanks for posting - absolutely hilarious, cracked me up, laughing out loud, should be a full series with all the top names....

  8. That sort of statement illustrates that the drive of your argument re MM is dogma rather than evidence based. Stoner has recently given at-length interviews of his experiences racing for both Ducati and Honda. Stoner did not have a mystical "style" that suited him to bikes that were difficult to ride. He was sufficiently capable of winning on both despite the deficiencies of the bikes.

Similarly MM can take a bike that is supposedly not suited to a particular circuit and put it on the podium ... time and again. Rossi has a record that is starting to resemble GA's - it is based in a different period of racing with different formats and different rules. The talk of of who is the GOAT is just out of context intellectual wank and it occurs in many sports.

MM has nothing to prove by going to Ducati nor any other manufacturer - the Honda is not head and shoulders above all other bikes in the field. He pushes the thing to squeeze every ounce of performance out of it and there is no other rider in the field that can match the combination of he and that bike over the course of a season at the moment.

  9. I neither have belief nor have faith. I look at the evidence in front of and until Mark Marquez can demonstrate his prodigious ability on the Honda on another bike, I'll stick with my opinion. Andy

  10. As of course you are entitled to do ... you know what they say about opinions ....

  11. It was the same with the Crafty Cockney... Winmau flights gave him an unfair advantage.

  12. Whichever, I hope we just have some racing soon.

A certain young man riding the Yamaha is what I really want to see, one of the few that can take MM on. Steep learning curve for him last year and an obvious abundance of talent. Just hope the Yam has enough ‘go’ to get close to the Dukes and Hondas, or at least not left in the wake, down the straights..

  13. Can't we all just agree that stoner was the best, MM is currently the best, AM was given a favour and Lorenzo still has a lot to offer?

    No?

    OK,,,,I'll move on :eyes:

  15. Like you said andy, mm can take it over the edge and then click it back a notch, apart from maybe stoner nobody else today can even come close to that cliff hanging talent on a regular basis.
