Has anyone fitted Ducati heated grips to a Multi DVT themselves? If so how difficult is it? It says plug and play, I am guessing it is not as straight forward as that.
I've fitted them to an Enduro earlier this year. There is a thread on here with me asking questions regarding this, with photos, so its worth a search. Fitting the grips themselves to the bars is fine, just follow the instructions. Trying to locate the connectors can be entertaining. You might be able to find and connect to them without the tank off. They will need to be enabled by your dealer. I got mine enabled by the dealer that supplied the bike and subsequently the grips, for free. Once they are enabled you will get a heated grip symbol appear on the dash. Prior to being enabled the symbol is not present. Hope that helps.
I had DP heated grips fitted to my PP multi a couple of weeks back by snells cheap as chips to fit just the grips were expensive but can't wait to try them out not much help I know but good luck if you have a go your self
To someone else interested in fitting Ducati HG in near future because of winter approaching, forget it. Buy a decent pair of heated gloves instead. Ducati hated grips are useless.
Rover, I disagree. The early grips were not great (although mine worked fine) as the grips wore out, but the newer ones are far better. I wear dainese wet weather gloves most of the year, and even on a real cold wet day the grips work fine. Certainly every bit as good as the oxford grips I have on my R1. If you wear thick winter gloves then yes it take a while for the heat to come through, just as it does with BMW, oxford etc grips.
Yeah me too , 2011 HG were too hot. 2015 DVT were a sack of shit and hardly worthwhile. 2018 PP are back to their best , too hot on the h0ttest setting. Couldn't get past the sensation of holding cans of beans with the oxford ones , oh and the johnny 5 control unit looks wank
Hi John, My apologies mate. I was again generic. Should have mentioned the year as I didn't know ducati sorted the grips from 18models. Mine is a 17 and it is crap. Good for autunn but anything bellow 5C need heated gloves, which I find better anyway because it heats the palm, back of your hands and along each finger.
Thinking of adding Ducati heated grips to 2017 DVT. Do you know if the newer (improved) versions fit / work with this bike?
I got mine from Ducati Manchester the ones recommended for my 2017 DVT and they work well. I fitted them myself using the comprehensive instructions. It took a while as there are lots of take off to get to the plugs. I got Italia Moto to activate them for me. They are nice and toasty. Not as warn as Oxford Grips but better than my Triumph ones
Thanks for that. Interesting! Ducati Manchester advised me to wait till Sept for any potential 'deals' and they will fit them free of charge - I'm happy to let them! I had Oxford heated grips on my 1200 monster and yes, hot but never really used them at 100% as I'm sure the lights dimmed when I did! Like other aftermarket ones, they also have the trailing cable which isn't ideal.
The Ducati grips are very neat and I love the way that they are integrated. I also waited until they were discounted. That will be a big saving if they fit them for free. It took me most of a morning. Mind you I did some cleaning whilst the bike was in bits.
