Hey there, Does anyone else have trouble starting their bike after Rapidbike EVO install? Mine is a 2015 1200 DVT S and since I installed the Rapidbike last year it starts like dog s@&! especially when cold. Curious if anyone else has this problem and how to resolve it or if I’m the only unlucky one. Thanks!
I've had a Rapid Bike installed for over a year. It has never given me a problem, starting or otherwise. My only thought is that maybe one of the sensor connectors under the tank might not be fully home. Sorry I can't help beyond that.
My Multi has alwys seemed a reluctant starter, I installed the upgrade cables from @Exige and replaced the battery to start with. Been ok since but still doesnt burst into life like my 1200 monster would.
Is there a part# or website for these cables? I’d definitely be interested in having it turn over a little quicker. I also had a 1200 monster and can attest to the multi not turning over quick even before the rapid bike mod.
Ive had my RB fitted for over 18 months, it certainly doesnt make it harder to start, occasionally when hot it might not catch 1st time but cold it always fires up after a couple of turns. I also did the cable upgrade and whilst not a Jap inline 4 it certainly now at least sounds like its gonna start....which the OE cables didnt....like a permanently flat battery by sound alone !
Update for anyone else in case you experience the same problem! I reached out to Rapidbike US and asked about my problem. From RapidBike US, “disconnect the Rapid Bike crank position sensor connectors and connect the stock connectors back together like it was before. It will be fine.” My response, “What functionalities or tuning function will I lose by doing that? Would the auto blipper/quickshifter still work if I do that?” Rapidbike US, “Nothing Sir. On this bike, RPM signal is generated for Rapid Bike EVO is coming from Injector pulse not from the Crank Position sensor. Disconnecting it will not hurt anything on Multi .” Thanks everyone. Hopefully this thread helps someone out in the future. I’ve also ordered the ES-14 cables. I’ll follow up after I do both mods.
Update for everyone, I put the new cables on last night. They fit good and look nice. With just the cables changed it turns over slightly quicker but still does not start without throttle. So I unhooked the crank sensor as suggested and it starts great now. Has me wondering why RapidBike would even include the crank sensor connectors (and if my RapidBike Is even working)....
Had the same issue on my 15 1200S. WTF?? I reconnected the stock CPS and alls good. I connected the the RB CPS plus together and shoved them in.
