Also thinking since I am the 750 if that same year. I can switch out parts just to double check, But it’s running good right now I’m just waiting for it to get hot and see what happens. What sucks is I live at the top of a big hill so I can’t even like write it up and down my street because if it dies at the bottom of the street I either got to get my wife to come to me after work or call a tow truck!! Sucks
I just rode it for a while in all ranges and it ran great. I mean I some how inadvertently fixed it for now ? Lol. I’m sure it will be back. Besides checking electrical connections ,relay and cps the only other thing I did was change back to a older set of spark plugs (NGK R dcpr8e instead of the 9e I had in it ). I’m sure I have not seen the end of this problem yet....
Just my $.02. I have a 2002 ST2 that has had the exact same issues and it took me about 2 years to find it! At the front of my bike left hand side under the fairing is a yellow relay. Most relays have a NC terminal and a NO terminal and powering the coil will switch the contact from one to the other. THIS relay is what's known as a dual 87 output relay meaning when the coil is powered BOTH terminals get power. On mine, one terminal was getting power so I would have headlights, dash lights, etc but the other terminal had no power so I would have no ignition, ecu, pump etc. Easy to check as the cover pops right off and I gave a light sand with some very fine grit paper to the contacts and instant fix! Replaced the relay first chance but those ones are a little harder to find than the regular relays. If I recall the OEM Ducati ones aren't that badly priced but you may have a bit of a wait for one.
