998 ecu help

  1. i have my 998 bp project stripped for cleaning and service and just noticed the ecu has 996R written on it ! is this correct ? I have a few concerns about the rev limiter and fueling ect . It has 50mm termis fitted so not sure if this is some kind of upgrade ecu ? thanks for any help.

  2. yep they probably all have that on them...

Its whats on the inside that counts and the only real way of checking all your queries is to get it on a dyno...

  3. A lot of the termi ECU's are marked up that way. Should be just fine. Like Andy says, any doubts, get it run on a dyno to check once its running

  4. You need to ascertain what map is loaded in the ECU. There are some marked diffrences in fuelling and ignition mapping between the 996R (998) ECU and the DP 50mm Termis 998 ECU. 28640341 is a ref for 996R and 96507502B is the ref for 998 50mm. Is there anything like that on the ECU?

  5. i have 3 different ecus for my 998s, one stock, one for DP 50mm termis one for 45-54mm termis

they all have the same stickers on them and are labeled 996r. only the cardboard boxes the ecu's came in are are labelled differently!!

    lazy ducati/termi ;-)

  6. If you're anywhere near West Yorks I can connect it to my laptop and tell you what map you actually have.

  7. can you see the diff maps with tools like ducatidiag? are they labelled in the code somewhere?

  8. You need to dump the maps using Ducatidiag. You can then use ECM to examine and compare the mapping. This can be done off bike using the correct hardware.

  9. aaar its becoming a bit clearer now , they are like bmw car ecu,s i.e 316d 318d &320d all share exactly the same engine and ecu just differant software .

thanks for all the replys il get dyno,d asap once its on the road next spring to make sure its somewere near(a bhp or 2 really isnt a problem) and not running too weak ect.

  10. p.s the big number on it is 61600.630.00
    then 996r
    then ducati 007

  11. Funkatronic, I know this is an ancient thread but I’ve a dead ecu in my 2002 stock 998S with std 50mm pipes; would you part with one of yours??
    Cheers
    Steve
