This is the story of New Zealand racer Kim Newcombe and the Koenig racing bike. It’s in four parts and well worth a watch. https://www.nzonscreen.com/title/love-speed-and-loss-2007
He is one of my motorcycling heroes, not widely recognized here in NZ, mind you no one bike related usually is.
Haven't finished the whole thing yet but sat through the first three in one go. So, so interesting and sad. Thank you so much for posting the link,
Finished now. I remember Vernon Cooper boss at the ACU and wot a barsteward he was. Disgrace to Silverstone and the ACU. Thank you so much for posting the link. Well worth a watch if you want a reminder of the bad old times when 2 or 3 riders per year would get killed...
The thing that I liked most about him was that not only did he ride the bike, but he built it as well, that and he finished 2nd in the season behind Phil Read and in front of Ago despite being dead.
https://www.nzonscreen.com/title/britten-backyard-visionary-1993 This is good, as well. About John Britten.
Going on from this I'm now watching DVDs. After Mike Hailwood, I watched this. Didn't know that Barry Sheene, as a kid, started on a Ducati!
