Great photos. The Amalfi coast is my idea of heaven on earth. Quite stunning. Ravello just off the coast is the best of them all.
For luke666. The rear straps are not visible but they are attached underneath to the aftermarket tail tidy and come up and over by the little grooves in the tail plastic. Note that I've broken the inner rear plastic in the picture and I had gaffer'd it up. I think this was caused by the rear seat unit clip putting pressure on the plastic due to all the luggage.
I was interested on how you'd fitted the gubbins for the Kriega packs. If you can stick more pics up or send them to me I'd appreciate it
I'm away this weekend and don't have the bike for a bit due to an argument with a Mercedes. Fortunately not much damage due to my leg taking most of the hit! Soon as I get back I'll get some pictures. It's worth mentioning that Kriega are releasing a panigale specific kit for their luggage, should be released in a month it two.
Great stuff. I used to think I was `ard for touring Europe two up on an 851 with only a tankbag for luggage. 2000 miles about my limit though- or rather, the misses` bums limit.
Brill write up Royal. I wonder if Renntec will do a Sports Rack for the Panni Makes attaching Kreiga gear rock solid.
Wow I'm impressed just brought my self (picking it up on Saturday 30th June) a 1199s panigale really didn't think you could tour on it a couple of questions, I have the same luggage as you how did you fit it Also I have the same twisty ride mount but I'm buying there leads to charge the phone with, basically could you read phone ok will riding and did it obscure the dash Thanks
Kriega do a proper strap kit for the Panigale now. They didn't do it when I went away so I did a homemade DIY job with the straps, it worked well but caused some damage to the plastics which I gaffer taped up! The rear straps fastened to the tail tidy and caused the plastic damage as they wrapped over the top and the luggage was heavy. The Twisty ride mount worked really well from what I remember. The cables were not so great though, and they broke by the end of the trip. I forget exactly what happened but I think it was a result of unplugging and removing the phone every day.
I've found this system https://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/products/bikepacksystem.aspx and I'm wondering has anyone on here used it?
I think they look ridiculous on a sports bike but if you are going to carry a load of luggage around Europe then it does make plenty of sense as its much easier to strap down. The biggest hassle with luggage is the constant taking it on and off every night and one of those frames would definitely make life easier.
We came back up via Sienna, Turin and then France. It was a memorable trip for sure, I’d never do it again on a race bike as it’s just not comfortable and very tiring so you can only manage around 100-200 miles a day sustainably. I’m currently in Bologna,Italy on the GS and I can easily do 500 miles plus and still be completely fresh at the other end. I only went away for the weekend but it’s been a month so far haha!
