1200 DVT Adjusting Levers...

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Will I, Aug 23, 2020.

  1. Hi all,

So... I finally thought I’d try to adjust the lever positions as they were always too high. Ideally trying to angle them down so that they ran more or less in line with the line of my forearms. I also wanted to try some 20mm bar risers.

Anyway, I carried out the changes today, but thought I’d run a concern by the forum. Rather than remove the locator pins (which I’ve seen other forums mention) I decided to rotate the whole handlebar a little , which coupled with the 20mm bar risers, seemed to work with no issues with the cable being snagged/tight etc or any fouling onto the tank etc from full lock to full lock. However, it’s resulted in the clutch and brake fluid reservoirs being angle forward more, which doesn’t look quite right. (The clutch reservoir was always angled forward slightly, but the brake reservoir was fairly level originally.) On the clutch side the fluid line is touching the minimum mark at the back and sits above the maximum mark at the front.

I’m, therefore, not sure if there’s any major issue having them tilted, or not? Without doing what I did I can’t see how you can adjust the levers without it affecting the reservoirs/mirrors anyway, which is a little odd.

Sorry if this is a stupid newbie question...

  2. Pictures please.

  3. I basically did the same as you, without the 20mm risers. I rotated the bars up and adjusted the levers / mirrors back to suit, and yes the reservoirs are a bit tilted but that's not a problem, will be ok...

  4. As long as the reservoir base cant run dry of fluid if its leant over, it should be OK. Its an oddity on the Multi's.

I did level my clutch side reservoir up briefly using a longer feed hose, but could not get it to seal properly (it seems to be an odd size when measured with a vernier) and had to resort back to the too-short-to-give-adjustment-properly OEM hose.

Ducati only sell em in a pack of ten too !

  5. Guessing your clutch cylinder isn't like the one on the Enduro?

  7. It looks the same... That bolt arrangement does suggest that you can rotate the cylinder but there is no slack at all to the tube line running in to it...

  8. OK, thanks

  9. I didn’t want to mess about with the hose connection to the cylinder... OEM doesn’t offer any slack to adjust at all unfortunately.

It is a bit of an odd, quite restrictive, design...

    Thanks
