  1. Or at least don't get married!

  2. Luckily, Hastings do subscribe to the industry rehabilitation code. That means (although the still deny liability) I have had modifications to my house (like an extra stair bannister and lots of extra grab rails), an exercise bike, and a Fitbit watch. I I get physio every week from a professional trainer.

My sol tells me that many of her clients are claiming against insurance companies that don't subscribe and so they have to pay for this stuff out of their own money and put it on their claim.

When I had an appointment at Cheltenham hospital, last week, they even pay for a taxi to take me (about 40 miles away) plus waiting time as he waited for me in Cheltenham for about an hour and a half!

  3. I had an op on my leg too, about two years ago. My leg needed straitening so they put this thing called a Taylor Spacial Frame on it. But mine was a controlled break. Still had the thing on for 6 months through. You can still see the scares where they put the bolts in. I also had an extra rail put into my house and a course of physo at the BRI. I know that hospital quite well myself :)

  5. I did it! And all without the help of one of my boys :)
My plan is to turn the XDiavel into a one seater and use the BIG BOY if I need to take any passengers.
I have already been in talks with a company in Italy called sonic racing parts about the suspension, they have told me the best way to go is AG 1760 on the rear and an Andreani cartridge for the front. Then of course there is the Termi exhaust and BST carbon fiber wheels. Then cosmetic stuff but first is the performance!
Still running her in though. That has to be done first. There seems to be many differing thoughts on how to do this, the book I got with it says you should not go over five and a half thousand rmp's for the first 620 miles and then not over seven for the next 930! Dose that sound right?

  6. I think that Southmead are doing my hip, BRI my arm, Gloucester are doing my leg, and Cheltenham were doing my eyesight. But I can't keep up with who is doing what! And I span two health authorities (Bristol and Gloucester) which adds to the mess (they don't talk)!

  7. Oh my word! Your all over the place mate LOL. You must need a filing system to keep up with all that....
I think you win hospital top trumps hands down in just about every category!

  8. And I used to have Gloucester BIRU doing my brain injury! They've discharged me now as I am beyond help!

  9. lol...very funny

  10. Another Bristol rider here, though I don't own a Ducati at the minute o_Oo_O

  11. Welcome to the forum RoughCut, nice new ride.

I'm in Cheltenham, or will be by next weekend. I ride in mid Wales quite a bit though divorce and now house purchase/move as well as Covid have all kept me from doing much riding this year. Plan to put that right over the remainder of the summer and better bits of the autumn if I can.

  12. Who's the nearest Ducati dealer to Cheltenham and are they any good? When I get mobile, i want to reduce my "Bristol focus" and visit more places North of me.

  13. That's cool, a bike is a bike man. What's your ride?

  14. I saw a Henry Cole episode when he did this really amazing rout through Wales. Been looking for it but with no luck. With such a cool ride right on my door step it would be madness not to do it. I'm up for a ride if I can work one out. I think you can get a bikers sat nav with preloaded routs in it. That may be money well spent :)

  15. Currently using Ducati Worcester, part of the DMC group. Bought my 1260 MTS from their Stoke branch. I doubt if my move to Cheltenham will have me changing my loyalties, they are still the closest and I do have something of a tenuous connection with them through my IAM observer and touring partner who organises some of their demo rides.

    Ducati Worcester - 26 miles
On Yer Bike - 49 miles
Riders of Bristol - 44 miles

It's not just the distance there and back but if having a service and a loan bike it's the two way journey twice if I have to go back for work. If not I'm well placed for a day in mid Wales on a different bike :D

  16. I have some decent routes, depends on what you're looking for in terms of roads. Mid and North Wales has plenty of decent ones.

  17. My thoughts exactly, I think they would need a crane to lift my beast! Plus I always twist the chain so if they try it will bind :)

  18. Really beautiful country and it's just over the bridge. People come from all over Europe to tour there.

  19. For me: Riders is 24 miles away and Ducati Worcester 45 miles. I'll get up there sometime for a ride but I can see, now, why I am more Bristol focused. It's just nearer!

When I did a contract in Cheltenham years ago in The Promenade, I used to ride up on the M5 but ride home down the A46. It's got some good bends and was not terribly busy as the M5 takes the lorries and coaches away. If you just keep going to Bath then a lot of fun can be had!
