Mivv Gibli with decat

  1. I heard there has been some issues regarding MIVV end cans. Build quality doesn't seem great and the cans seemed to have no wadding in some cases but I heard that from some owners on the Ducatisti site - I guess you really need to hear from them....

  2. I've got a MIVV GP Carbon & am pleased with the build quality.

Having also seen the thread about issues I took the end cap off mine & can confirm that it is not empty but very well packed with wadding.

My understanding is that the issues were with the Sumo silencer.

Regarding legality, they are listed as legal when fitted with the supplied db killer although even with this fitted it will wake the neighbours up so beware but it does now sound like a Ducati should.

  3. I have the MIVV Suono that some have had problems with.

Mine has been great; I like the way it looks, love the sound, it took 6-7 kgs off the bike weight, it runs fine on the std ECU, the back wheel can come off without removing the end can. Overall, for me, I would highly recommend. The volume is loud but not deafening (until you overtake someone). I think it would be a problem at a track day though.....

  4. Hi
Im on my second Mivvi Souno, the first suffered from metal fertige around the rivits and eventualy they gave in and blew a large hole in it, Mivvi said they would not replace but BR tuning who i bought it from did replace it, now 4 months on the second is going the same way, the whole end can is becoming loose on the rivits, it seems to me that vibration is the cause, its just vibrating it self apart, i did take the can apart and stuffed it with waddin as there is none in the Souno thinking that would help with the vibration but no. I cannot say for other Mivvi end cans, but i would advise you NOT to buy the Souno as is of very poor quality, so in my experience thats £500 down the toilet. What end can to buy now? Also with baffle in it is only slightly louder than stock but with baffle removed it is to loud

  5. Thanks guys some great comments....
@ Bob I would love to get the QD's....but they are only a bit cheaper than the full termi.

Question is....what does one do at mot time....take the end can off and fit the standard end can? Or take everythin off ie decat and end can and fit the stock box and pipe....or r there ways around the issue of using non homologated pipes?

Sorry to be a bit thick here but where I come from a vehicle only needs a roadworthy inspection when there is a change in ownership, so once bought.....you can do what you like.

  6. In S/Ireland you can do wat the feck you like to your bike, no M.O.T for bikes n the cops ere av a hole lot different attitude than UK, but sayin that you can always meet a bad un.

  7. Hi
I put the de-cat pipe on my Multi 1200s but it was just too loud. The standard and termi stubby still fits it. Also removing the CAT you loose a lot of mid range unless you fit a power commander and get it mapped properly. So by the time you do the pipe pc and mapping you may as well go and buy the race system!

  8. Thanks docdeano what you are saying makes sense. My intention was to get the Mivv exhaust with decat, then visit a clever fellow near Bristol called Chris who I am told has managed to crack the MTS ecu. He can then remap the bike for me on the dyno. For a fee of course. But then I think I should have the optimum ride.

On another topic....slip arrived yesterday whilst I was out on Delilah from the royal mail. My fat ducs have arrived....yippee.....but Her Majesty's government want £29 for the pleasure....grgrgr they only cost around 100£ ! Taxes.....one really is born free taxed to death!

  9. He has, he can and you will. I had mine done last weekend, and all the better for it.

  10. He can indeed, Chris has done a number of MTS12's now, he was posting quite a lot of info on the Ducatisti forum, I did email him about this new site but not heard anything from him.

  11. I had the same problem as Nigel, the Suono threw its hand in and blew apart after a couple of months, Speedycom gave me my money back so i am now running the De-cat and stock with br baffle but i am not happy with this as it starts gettin annoying after a long run.
I am thinking of gettin an Akro slip on and a trip to CJS. why the fck didnt Ducati put a half decent system on a great bike!

  12. Homologated

Excellent....found some more info on the Mivv pipes, and they are homologated and thus road legal....must say I was a bit concerned re the mot....even if it's still some time away....see link below....

  13. So fitted the Mivv mid pipe which I purchased from Pumpman....thanks Pumpman, great doing business with you.....and I must say, it's like chalk and cheese. I was under the impression the aftermarket exhausts would make the bike run rough in the low rpm area, but it has actually improved...substantially.

The only issue now....it is sooo LOUD....even with the BR baffle in. (She does sound great though:upyeah:) but I am worried about the cops....(what can they do)....

So the choice....buy a new Gibhli....or I see a termi stubby on fleabay for 299£ .....will these two comply/reduce the noise level? Especially the termi stubby which I believe is for the standard cat box?

    Any one got some comments.....

Ps would recommend getting rid of the cat box to all....what a delightful difference.....set up now....fat ducs, Mivv de cat mid pipe, standard end can....exvl error ( but working on it)

  14. I had the Mivv mid pipe, baffle and carbon stubby.
Believe me,this was louder than loud!
I swapped the Termi for an Akra and it's now bearable, even without the baffle.
Chris at CJS "breathed" on it.
    Nuff said.

  15. I fitted the Mivv Suono last year in May and have covered 10,000 miles with it so far with no issues other than the exhaust heat damaging the number plate and the pulses shaking the indicator. The big circlip which holds in the baffle is getting rusty but there's nothing else wrong with it. The noise is not intrusive on motorways or normal running but has a real Ducati bark when the taps are opened. It saves 7kg in weight and the performance was improved. Sorry to hear some people have had issues but I would recommend it.

  16. Question for the Forum???

Is the standard end can a silencer too.....or just a pipe?

With the Mivv mid pipe....it is seriously loud....so loud that the AA man on a call last night stopped to look at the what the noise was?

I am sure the police will put me away for good when they hear this....

Have put a bid on a termi stubby....but wonder if that will make a difference to the noise....they do call it a silencer....

  17. The Termi stubby is less of a "silencer" than the stock end can, a friend of mine tried one on a decat mid pipe but not for long! I could hear him coming two blocks away. Tha stock system seems to do all its silencing in the big cat tank. Even running that with the end can off is not loud (I tried it once!). You really need a .can with a real silencer on the mid pipe but the Mivv cans are made to use a shorter version of the pipe you have. You could try mounting them on what you have and cut it back to suit. I suggest marking it out with masking tape and then cutting with a small cutting disc as in a large Dremel.

  18. The stubby is just a end pipe, more cosmetic than a silencer

Ive got QD system, no cat, two pipes, more like a silencer, especially with db killers fitted, still pretty loud but in a more managable way! Sounds like a Duke should sound!!
