1260 Apologies - Another Screen Thread

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Cooperman, Oct 3, 2020.

  1. I'm on a 1260 enduro.

I recently had a 300 mile motorway ride back at adventurous speeds.

The screen is stock with spacers and I get no head buffeting - but it is noisy.

Playing around with positions I realised the noise is coming from the air hitting my arms / shoulders.

Any recommendations for a wider screen that throws the air past the body?

  2. Its probably a smaller screen you want, not a wider one. I have a Puig race screen on mine (with spacers but it is the same without) and have no issues with wind noise.

  3. Anyone tried the Gran Turismo screen?

  4. A smaller puig screen is what I went for.
The buffering was driving me mad

I haven’t used them but there are some kind of side attachments you can fit to the side of the screen.

  5. I run a PP Carbon on my 1200 Enduro, hoping it would solve the noise issues, but in conjunction with a shark flip lid, I can barely hear any bike-bike comms due to wind roar above 50mph. TBF, I don't suffer from that awful 'head buffeting' and it is slightly better with my older Arai full face lid. A riding pal has a Puig touring screen on his KTM and has no problems at all. In fact he has to turn his volume down, to counteract the roar he can hear from my microphone, when we have open comms!

  6. Pulled the trigger on the Gran Turismo. Will report back.

  7. I'm on a Puig racing on 1200 Enduro as well. I did wonder (however) if those little flip up clip on things that MRA do could be fitted to the sides of the screen to make it wider ...

  8. It's arrived. Photos sat on OEM screen for comparison.

  9. I bought one of these, and it's made a big difference to me:

I'm 6'2, so the windscreen height seems to be a difference. I've adjusted it so that with the screen on the highest position I am looking over the top of the extender. It's considerably quieter now. On the low setting I can ride with my visor open up to 50mph and not have any wind in my face. In the higher position I can ride with my visor open up to about 80mph. Not that I do, but it illustrates how much less airflow is getting to me now. Also, I no longer get a visor covered in bugs.

At higher speeds there is still a little bit of buffeting on the sides of my helmet, but overall I'm really happy with the improvement. Perhaps the ultimate solution would be the extender plus some spacers.

  10. I use the same thing, but sadly I bought the far more expensive Wunderlich one!
    (These versions weren't around then)

  11. I was pretty happy with mine at £13! Likewise, my £20 air cushion has been excellent, with a recent 600 mile day being something I'd have never attempted before.

My only observation, having used the screen extender for around 4000 miles now is that the plastic is not so UV-stabilised as the Ducati screen, as it's starting to yellow very slightly.

  12. Thanks for posting that - at £14 it has to be worthy a punt?

  13. That was exactly my thinking, and I'm glad I did.

  14. Well, it seems to do the trick? Not the prettiest solution, but mine is an Enduro, so no oil painting to start with!

Tested up and down the local dual carriageway and (on a private runway) up to 100mph, without coming off!

Will take some getting used to, as I've had 3 years without anything in my eyeline - probably swap between the 2 screens, using the carbon for local stuff and the bigger for longer trips?

How they make, post and make any money on these things from China, still leaves me scratching my head?

  15. A fine looking machine you have there - I wish my bike was that colour.

As you say, not the prettiest solution, but it definitely works for me. I did Fort William back to Dorset in just under ten hours a couple of weeks ago - pretty much 500 motorway miles, and this definitely contributed to my improved comfort.

  16. I do the same with mine, short for local and the extension on longer runs
