Running a good lively forum is an art , not a science , and I'd like to thank the team on here . It's a tricky job being a moderator and the really good ones have found that a light touch works best . This forum has the perfect balance IMO . Sure , there is occasionally strong language and some political comment that many forums would censor but here there is leeway . I've only seen one ban on here , and that was for continually trolling other members , and eventually it became the only possible solution . All forums have rules and most of them have a few " difficult " members who constantly cross the lines or push the boundaries . I'm on quite a few forums ( most are science and computing related and fairly geeky ) and some of them have dreadful moderators , with the mentality of traffic wardens . Nobody runs a forum at a loss , but having no active members equals a dead forum . Here's an example of crap moderators in action :- I once posted on a leading computer security forum about defending against global cyber attacks .... coming mainly from North Korea , China or Russia , and a moderator replied ( publicly ) that my " political comments " would not be tolerated . So I posted back saying that it was a tad contradictory ( and a bit ridiculous ) on a security forum when everyone and their dog knows that " certain nation states " were by far the biggest threat .... then I got a PM telling me to shut it , or get a temporary ban .... Ha ! Anyway , enough with my mindless blather .... I just wanted to thank the mods on here for doing a fantastic job , especially in these difficult times when many people are feeling frustrated and maybe a little short-tempered ..... .... what say the rest of you ?
I agree. Its important to let people know that they are appreciated, easy to forget in these difficult times.Thank you mods you do a great job in keeping this place vibrant ,informative and funny .
This is without doubt the best forum I have been on. There’s a brilliant mix of characters and Herberts also unlimited knowledge of many things. The mods do a fantastic job of keeping us in check.....mostly anyway. Not a position I could do as I’d ban everyone including me...
A difficult job, with a difficult crowd - @El Toro & @Ducbird get my vote. Lets face facts, we are all adults and we should be able to maintain civilty and respect for others & their views (even when THEIR views are wrong LOL).

And I'd have been watching like a hawk for a new user turning up .... called " Betty Swallocks " or something similar I say this "all in the best possible taste " of course .... ... anyone remember the Kenny Everett character called Cupid ?
Bingo ! Dear old Kenny had her full name in the original script but it was ruled out early on .... he did get away with a lot though ....
