916 Strada Seat Unit

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by Blueprint, Nov 14, 2020.

  1. A long shot I know, but does anyone have a 916 Strada seat unit they are looking to sell?

  2. Have one which is recently painted all original but it doesn't come cheap I'm afraid..

  3. I have a genuine original monoposto seat, which I got with my biposto when I bought it, but I never use it. It has been stored away on a shelf ever since I got the bike. I personally find it a bit silly to make a biposto look like a wannabe mono. One can always see where the rear pegs attach on a bi rear frame.

I wouldn’t mind parting with it, especially if it goes to a genuine monoposto. However, these seat units have become difficult to find and as Niels mentioned above, do not come cheap (I know it cost 550€ second hand to the first owner, back in 2002, as I still have the bills...).

  4. I would over think the approach. I would buy a second hand with some marks cheap an let it respray to match the 94 original seat. If you’ll find an original 94 unit it’s probably at a “Varese” price, which I don’t understand. Mono seat units are still available at the dealer, and sometimes cheaper than second hand.....

  5. How much is a new one Nick?

  6. Hi, thanks for the reply, how much are you looking for?

  7. I’m not actively selling but I need €500,- to breakeven (part, paint, stickers and few parts). Part has a production stamp of 1994, color is correct (slightly difference in red between the older 916 and the later once).

  8. Thats great Niels!!, I'll take it. DM me how you want paying etc....

  9. Thank you for the offer, I'm going to go with Niels unit as it is correct for my bike.

  10. Not any of the dealers I checked, the part number is there on all the usual sites but when you order they are no longer available from Ducati I'd imagine that's where the second hand prices come from

  11. Agreed although there is more new than you would expect but not for the monoposto. Besides that, you would have to Paint it probably as I have been with some NOS parts

  12. Main Dealership here in NL confirmed me they are available around 700€ but only in one colour. (Yellow/Red)

  13. I even checked with wieger in startwin and he couldn't get me a red one I bought second hand

  14. Ah strange, I needed (this summer) a mono for my 998S (end up trading mine FE with one orig. 998s with a member here) asked Wieger and he told me they were available

  15. Let’s order one and see :p

  16. He told me they same then apoligized when he couldn't get it, he said the system said they were available but ducati didn't have them he's a gentleman and always does his best

  17. He does and always nice to talk to. Okay so apparently they or no longer avail, hence the price 2nd hand.

  18. Blueprint,
Agreed. With the white number plates, my unit is « correct » for a SP/SPS.

  19. Very nice piece!
