What I don’t get is it’s an issue in Fairytale of New York but not in Money for nothing? They need to keep it constant. You can’t rewrite history.
Ba Ba black sheep can’t be far off the banned list. When the hell is this political correct nonsense going to end.
Correct if i’m wrong but i believe it’s ok to say Black Friday or Ba Ba Black sheep etc, it’s if you refer to it as Coloured Friday or sheep that’s when it’s wrong or so i’m led to believe..I think, possibly, maybe, apparently etc... x
Another one is American Football and the NFL.. There are no more Washington Red Skins anymore! It’s a shame the white and black Americans weren’t as sensitive as they are today when they rode into the Red Indians territory raping and murdering their way to occupation.. X
They banned money for nothing in Canada a few years ago, I did not realise lumberjacks were so sensitive. After all they dress in women’s clothing and hang around in bars. Perhaps fairytale may be next, they could be offended by the use of the word fairy.
There's a radio edit version of Money for Nothing, like there was for Heart of Glass and for plenty of other tracks Candyman by Christina Aguilera used to get broadcast with a couple of strategically placed bleeps, plenty of songs have been taken off the Radio 1 Playlist from God Save the Queen (the sex pistols version) to Relax Radio 2 will still be playing the original version so Laurence Fox can still get his dose of seasonal casual bigotry. History is always being rewritten as we learn more about what happened in the past, to pretend otherwise is ludicrous.
& that is the real problem here isn’t it? If it’s offensive to enough people, OK we all learn & move on, that’s fair progress in society. If it’s OK for those very people that object, to use it, that’s simply wrong & undermines all of it.
