Just put in bike for MOT and tester can't get headlights to work. He's apparently tested the fuse and it's not that. Works on flash and sidelights work. If alternative power source to bulb apparently it works. All connections look fine.... he's stumped... any ideas?
Could be the headlight relay, but before you go taking the fairings and nose cone off to investigate it would be prudent to see if is the headlight switch not sending the necessary signal to the relay first. Start with the easier bit first! Pipped at the post, due to procrastination on my part buying your bike btw.
The relay isn't energised by the switch but by the dash. At start up the dash grounds the headlight relay turning dip beam on. The headlight switch is simply for main beam which it turns on by taking the output of the relay and applying it to the main beam lamp. If the headlights aren't working, either fuse 2 (15A) has blown, the relay has failed or the dash isn't earthing it either because of a broken wire/connection or an dash failure.
