Boxing Day Sale Belstaff. Too Good To Be True?

  1. Been having a look at a Belstaff Trialmaster or similar in the post Christmas sales. The Jubilee Trialmaster looks nice, it has a waterproof membrane, CE armour at various points, and space for a back protector, and a nice buffed vintage cotton look. What's not to like?

Except there seems to be something a little wrong about the link above. Things that look too good to be true are usually scams, right?

Apparently they accept Paypal. Does this mean that there is some sort of buyer protection in case the goods aren't as described?

This should set alarm bells ringing. Fake?

  3. Search Fashion Stores Inc, apparently sellers of fake brands. Walk away. Andy

  4. Personally I can't believe how much the going rate is for a bit of waxed cotton. Back in my youth they were grubby utility riding gear that left a greasy sheen on the pub furniture.
Amazing what the hipster fashion does for a brand and prices.

  6. Which is why at £106 it seems like such a good deal. I don't think that the discounts on the official website would match that!

  8. Agreed I brought one brand new when I was an apprentice, i think about £20 in 1973/74.
Cant believe how much they are now.

  9. I got one in '77 when I bought my sweet sixteener sports moped. Only because I couldn't afford a proper leather. There was a time when they could hardly give them away even to nerdy types. Then marketing and nostalgia happened and they are now £500 if you're daft enough.

  10. Hmmm if I want to complete the 70’s look I’ll just need to know where I buy some Derri boots?

  14. Belstaff.......wot used to be the cheaper version of Barbour......both were greasy crap and didn't keep the wet out after 6 months as all the stitching used to leak.

A black plastic bin bag served a better purpose.

  15. The CZ (or MZ) with Derri boots and a waxed cotton was the commuting choice for many...

Not me though, I had the sturdy Yamaha 125, with Lewis Leathers jacket and boots
