Anyone Deal In Vans?

  1. I’m after a van, wondered if anyone on here deals in them? Obviously with lockdown I’ll probably have to buy blind so I’d rather deal with someone not out to con me!

    What I want:

    - panel van
    - mwb or lwb
    - aircon
    - cruise control
    - not fucked
    - ideally not white!

I'm planning to use it as a daily so don’t want a trashed builders van, and will be kitted out for a bike track day van in the rear so ideally not after something covered in plaster and a right mess!

    Budget is £7-10k inc vat.
Ive had a lot of Trafic and Vivaros from Enterprise and like both so I’m after either of them really, not a fan of the transit.

Bigger vans like Masters seem cheaper but a bit big for a daily considering it will be empty all the time!

  2. Have you considered the Toyota branded Trafic/Vivaro, has a 5 year warranty or 100k

    Toyota Proace

  3. You’ve been looking at vans for longer than Covid and Boris have had their dicks stuck in our asses

  4. The newer nicer ones are way out of budget from what I can see.

Haha tell me about it! Me and a mate were supposed to go halves and he wanted to wait until after Christmas but he’s now come clean that he doesn’t want to so I’m now free on my own to get one!

  6. Yeah, decided I needed to spend more to get something tidy that I’d be happy with.

I know, this one has a good spec and history so thought I’d give it a go. Everything on the net says they’re better than Vivaro/Trafic so thought I should listen!

  7. Depends what you read and who you speak too, the transporters have a real fan base and good residuals but , apparently don't drive as nicely as the ford or the renault and vauxhall but then i've hears the opposite option, the renaults and vauxhalls are reputed to having the gearbox/ clutch as fragile? The best thing to do is go and have a look, test drive and make your own mind up - looking forward to pictures of the new purchase and/or the feedback.

  8. Transporters are out as they’re far too expensive and generally boggo spec compared to the others.

I’m a bit drawn in by the Ford having a 2.2 compared to the 1.6 of the others, in my mind a bit lower strung is a good thing for reliability. they also seem to have way better residuals.

  9. I had a new vw crafter work van in 2015, nice van and goes really well. I looked after it and treated it like my own. Did about 80k in it and it was 100%reliable but it still felt a bit van like. Cruise control but no zircon.
In 2019 work got me a new transit trend and its bloody lovely. Air on, cruise, heated folding electric mirrors etc. It drives like a car, quite, comfy, quick,. Done 30k in it so far and it's spot on.
I think if I was a single bloke I'd have one and not bother with a car.

  10. Downside to a transit is security.
2nd hand van prices have gone through the roof . Have to blame all the delivery companies for taking on all their new delivery persons for that.

  11. Try and find a Toyota hi ace they are brilliant I'm on my 2nd one now. The older vivaros are better than the new ones. I wouldn't touch a transit or vw full stop.

  12. Oops, bought the transit!

Drives lovely, even has heated seats which weren’t advertised.

  13. Good choice. I've got one same colour and spec on my fleet. The guy that drives it loves it.

  14. Have a few vans and have owned pretty much most vans over the years, the best van I’ve ever had hands down is the transit custom sport!

  15. Good to hear for sure. Nice drive back, just need to remember when it comes to a roundabout that I’m not in the M3!

Had a horrible rattle from under the drivers seat all the way home and found a pointless lid thing, so some foam tape and gaffer tape it’s now completely silent inside, job jobbed.
