Mutli 950s Givi Tank Lock Fitting.

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by wotbus@, Jan 14, 2021.

  1. I have undone the six bolts surrounding the filler cap (surprised to see 3 one length and 3 another ?) and expected something to come off ...
Seems the "surround" of the filler hole is fixed in perhaps in a tight rubber seal or the like - how to remove that ?
Just how is the plastic Givi plate fitted, there are no instructions other than how to operate the clip which removes the bag. thanks

  2. Have you unlocked the filler cap?

  3. Yes but it all still seems very tightly fitted ?

  4. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow. :upyeah:

  5. Well, what I thought would be a relatively quick and easy job is far from it!
I have wiggled what appears to be a whole unit up a bit but no further. Now I can't get it back in again without it pulling the outer tank to filler seal in with it. I have tried adding a tiny drop of WD40 and pulling the "unit" back in by slowly tightening the six screws but no luck so there must be more to it.
Ah well, back to the Duke shop albeit a bit embarrassed

  6. Thanks NGNG :upyeah:

  7. Maybe @nelly can help before you take it back.

  8. This is for a tank bag?
Just making sure you have the mounting plate (a flat metal semi circle)?
The tank mount just sits on top of the outside of the filler cap, then the mounting plate and screw it down again. Not sure why you have different length bolts but use the black ones that come with the mount on the front and tighten them down evenly.

It should be a 10 min job really?

  9. This is the mount on my 1260

  10. You don’t need to remove the filler and if you ever do want to you have to take the tank surround off first

  11. You only need remove the bolts, place the ring on top and then bolt back down with the same bolts.

  12. Ahhh seems like the black metal horseshoe shape is what I don't appear to have, not with the rest of bits - strap, plastic mount etc. No wonder it became a bit of a mystery.
Merde, back to the shop tomorrow
    Thanks everyone :upyeah:

  13. Twin4Me Is that easy to remove ?

  14. The ring is usually extra. It will be a Ducati specific fitment due to the bolt hole spacing.

  15. Shame I never saw the movie first, duhhhhh. I wrongly assumed the silver ring around the filler cap came off and the plastic ring went beneath it. Oh well, every day a school day.

    Edits typo

  16. Good job I am not on tour tomorrow LOL. OK, Duke shop to get the filler fitted back in properly AND source the correct fitting. Maybe try to explain why I didn't buy the Duke accessory in the first place...shame....
    Thanks everyone.

  17. Easily obtainable online otherwise

I thought that might have been your problem :)

  18. Thanks Ackers :upyeah:, live and learn eh. A bit of advice from the shop would have been helpful . I quite naturally thought I was buying a complete unit, first Givi product I have owned.
Now just the seal around the filler cap to sort and the mystery of the 3 long and 3 a bit shorter bolts to solve. Have I put them back in the right holes  - Is everything OK under there  :(
