So, will VR take the place of actual test rides? And would you buy a new bike on the strength of a ‘good ride’ on a VR simulator? https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-tech/virtual-reality-motorbike-development/
No from me as well, just like viewing a house you need almost all of your senses to make an informed decision.
Riding a bike is a visceral experience. Something I very much doubt you’d get from a VR ‘test ride’. So it’s a NO from me.
I’ve only ever purchased 1 bike from a test ride and I’d only gone to the dealer to buy a fuel pump for my 851. I just buy bikes by how they look but I have to see them in the flesh.
It would be truly hypothetical I don’t think I could bring myself to part with 15-20k on a bike, at that figure I’d have to test the goods.
VR; good fun no doubt, but to replace the 'real' experience of riding the bike and making an informed decision to spend money on it....NO, not a chance.
I've never test ridden a bike I've bought. I just bought them on looks/research and if I didn't get on with them sold them at a loss.
Yep! Same as ngng! I’ve done the deal from research and having pals with same model then just gone and collected! Never been disappointed! Bought the V4r without even looking at it! I knew what it was so just bought it and so glad I did! They were all new so I had a warranty the only issue would have been if I didn’t really get on with any of them but I didn’t so all good!
Me too. It usually works out ok but I bought an 848SF blind a few years ago, hated it (dreadful ergonomics) and sold it on, thankfully at a profit though.
I mean I didn’t have any issues!! I would add if it was a second had bike without a warranty I’d definitely check it out and want to test it!
Call me old fashioned, but I'm not even giving 1K to anyone, for anything, without seeing, touching and trying it out. Bikes, cars, engagement rings, boats, houses -not a chance.
