I'm not claiming to have " The Art " but I reckon it's a vital technical topic , for any Ducati owner ..... I got the classic Dualit toaster ( 3-slot ) over twenty years ago and never regretted it . I also got the optional toasted sandwich accessory ( or performance upgrade ? .... ) .... a sort of folding cage , and a complete waste of time and money . IMHO it's impossible to make a good quality toasted sandwich vertically , but I'm keen to hear what others think on such an important subject . I'll start with this .... The Breville .... " the electric handbag " It's OK , but it's yet another lump of stuff to be stored in the kitchen , and it only does one job ..... which I really don't like
Good thread I made a vertical toasted sandwich for a girlfriend once, it had to be thin, new, sliced white bread I remember as you could "knit" the edges together well after adding contents (cheese usually).
wot's yer fav filling Viv? (no double entendre meant!) I remember experimenting with a Breville, you couldn't get away with much moisture, but did try an egg once.
I’m clearly having a day for memories. Grass tracking in another post and now using toasty bags in an infra red toaster to cook toasted sandwiches for customers in the public bar of the King’s Head in Frimley Green, circa 1973. Andy
Thats not art, that's a crime against toasties you absolute heathen. And I thought id read everything on here ffs.
Butter bread quite thickly. Put desired filling sandwiched between the NOT buttered sides. Lob into hot frying pan. Use spatula to push the treat into the pan, compressing it. Flip it. Cut it. Eat it. Simples.
