Monster Tyres

  1. Nope, not for a jacked up American pickup, but for my 2004 M1000ie DS.

    It's a minefield isn't it.

I'm no hero when it comes to riding, and don't do that many miles, so am looking for a decent pair of tyres that aren't the latest race track refugees, but equally won't make my ability on a bike worse.

    Standard sizes are:
    180/55-VR17
    120/70-VR17

I've mainly used Pirellis in the past, and quite like the look of their Angel STs or Rosso IIIs, but am open to suggestions.

Demon Tweeks appear to have some good deals on pairs of tyres at the moment.

    Any thoughts?

  2. If you are happy with Pirellis then stick with it. Tyres are as personal as choosing a girl friend and everyone has an opinion. To be fair, Pirelli, Metzeler, Bridgestone, Michelin, Continental and Dunlop all do a tyre for the average rider. I’ve put Rosso IIIs on Carole’s Diavel and I use Metzeler Roadtech 01 SEs on my 1200 Multistrada. I would advise sticking to a known brand and a popular tyre, that way you should always get new rubber. Demon Tweeks have been known for knocking out tyres that have been in stock for a couple of years on special offer. Andy

  4. I keep replacing with pilot road 2.
Great tyre for me and sensible prices.

  5. Great tyres in their day..do they still manufacture them? I used to use them in 2008...

  6. GF swears by Rosso 3s on her Monster 821.

  7. Yes they’re still doing them. Had a new rear fitted recently. I considered going to road 5’s. Maybe next time as a pair.

  8. You you won't go far wrong with a pair of Michelin Pilot Road's IMO.
