Hi and many thanks to those who pitched in with suggestions via my 'hello' post in the newbies forum. I wasn't sure whether to post this as a 'technical' issue or not, but as I have a 749, I thought it best to place it here, initially. BLUF: EOBD light does not extinguish; EF code reads '.' (NO NUMBER listed against it in the display panel) despite depressing the left button for differing periods of time; Engine does not fire up first time (or 2nd, 3rd, etc. at times); Exhaust smokes mainly from the offside pipe; Erratic idling speed; Occasional backfires whilst idling. Prior to this, I started to fill the tank through the front hole (not sure what that one is...reserve tank?) before realising my error. Coolant is low but not empty (I will order some blue stuff as I do not know how to drain and flush the system in readiness for the pink liquid.....see next paragraph). Vehicle is currently SORNd. Not owning, nor being able to find a maintenance manual for the 749 (Haynes does other Ducaties), I am reluctant to tinker....my last bikes were GT750, LC250, GSX250 era bikes (idiot-proof to work on, relatively speaking). VIDEO ATTACHED for your pleasure/amusement (note: see postscript). Now in my late 50s, modern technology has left me for dead and my befuddled little brain struggles to achieve the most basic of tasks. Any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated. No known Ducati dealers this far SW (Kernow). Cheers my 'ansums. P.S. Original video (35MB) was deemed too large by the ducatiforum automated response to my upload attempt; the compressed version (7.8MB) of the original was also deemed too large. The compressed version of the compressed version (3.8MB) was also deemed too large. Call me a luddite, but I'm tempted to (a) upload the video to YouTube and attatch a link in this thread (thread, threaders....there's a theme brewing) or, (b) post CDs to forum members that want a copy (lol).
Workshop Manual https://www.scribd.com/doc/7049030/...60149026&source=hp_affiliate&medium=affiliate For the EOBD light you need to use some diagnostic software to read any stored codes.
Many thanks chrisw, much appreciated. I'll get there, eventually and get it back on the road, where it belongs.
Hi Chris,,,probably a stupid question, but do you have to subscribe to this site in order to download this manual..free 30 day trial etc but had trouble unsubscribing to these types before,,cheers mate..Sean
Here’s the 999 one it should help https://www.dropbox.com/s/poccxsqf7p1b543/Ducati 999 Workshop.pdf?dl=0
Bigger. I subscribed, but fear not shipm8s, it's a 30-day trial AND Alexa has been set to remind me (to cancel) on day 29
I have 2 of my 3 free downloads remaining. May search for manuals for my 04 R6 & '75 Benelli. May go the Haynes route for the R6 though.
