Is it simply a fancy normal touring seat or is there anything different with it? I'm tempted to get the touratech seat to test. But just wanted to know before I invest my piggy bank pennies.
I’ve got the GT and can’t tell the difference in comfort from the standard seat on my 1200S DVT tbh. My coccyx still ache after a long day’s riding. I’d be interested to know if the Touratch seat is ant better.
I got it from Touratech in Germany before the dreaded B word. Have a look on the UK site, as they were matching the deal. That was about 9 months ago though!
DVT seat and 1260 seats are the same there was not a specific GT seat. There were some good deals on this a few months ago as I think Touratech were clearing out their old stock and not making any more (?). They often come up for sale on here and eBay. IMHO much more comfortable than standard seat, doesn’t tip you into the tank.
I wrote on here some time ago about how I modified my seat to reduce the forward tilt and keep my manhood from getting damaged. I fitted the raised bar at the front of the seat so it was as high as it would go, but then I cut off the spacing lugs on the side filler strips to lower the back and put it in the lower position. I then fitted the filler strip to the front underside of the pillion seat. This worked. I didn't do a pretty job cutting the lugs off but it was effective. Lowering the rear and raising the front made the seat much more comfortable, no sliding forward under braking, and I have done a 12 hour day and survived. I found the pictures I took at the time so you can see what I did. Those side strips are cheap to replace, about £12 each back in 2017 when i did the job, so if it goes wrong or doesn't work for you it is easy to go back to standard. It leaves a gap at the front top of the seat and the tank but I have since filled that gap with a length of car door seal off ebay, so it looks better there now. It's worth a try and cheaper than buying seats in the hope they might be more comfortable.
I live in the Netherlands, but on their site, they only have the seat for the 1200, is it the case they are the same?
Freshage, if you want a comfortable seat we are looking at manufacturing seats for the DVT Multistrada. We’ve designed this, tested it and redesigned it. I put it on my bike a week ago and it’s better than anything else I’ve tried. Above all it makes the seat feel level and removes the rolling forward problem. There’s a gel pad inserted into the riders seat, which I find gives all day riding comfort and a much better feel/feedback riding the bike. See my post in the Multistrada section titled TOTALLY TRANSFORMED THE HANDLING, COMFORT AND RIDEABILITY. Personally, I genuinely am delighted with it. Pm me if you’re interested.
If you are quick I can probably get one to you fairly easily as my son lives in Amsterdam but he’s in the UK at the moment for a funeral. He could take one in his car.
