  1. Excellent, good to hear it worked out for you. Seems you achieved even more than a quiet clutch :)

  2. I had a go at this mod a few years ago on my ole 748R and couldn't get it to work for me.
However, off work today and as the weather is so arse I decided to have another attempt on my current beastie...Success!

Kind of miss the rattle now...

Rattle only appears to be there when the clutch lever is pulled.:upyeah:

Bored, bored, bored, what to do now.... Fix the Dyson....

  3. Guys I have read this thread with interest as the rattling clutch does mask the engine noise. 2 things come to mind 1. where do you get old worn clutch plates 2. if its such an easy fix why didn't Ducati do it and save us all the hassle.

  4. @Olias: generally when you are changing you clutch plates, take the best worn friction plate left, clean it up and that's your mod one.

Secondly, the dry clutch is a "feature" of Ducati's so there is no interest in making it quieter, but several aftermarket clutch basket makers use a design which incorproates the same principle that not only make it quieter but reduce wear of the rattling plates on the clutch basket fingers.

  5. Thanks, I'll give theatre try when I need to replace them.

  6. Should have read "I'll give it a try".

  7. One last point. My last bike was a Honda cbr 1000 f that I had for 12years and never changed the clutch, how often will the Ducati clutch need looking at?

  8. I have this done on both my '93 SS and '02 ST4s, very good mod to do and due to less movement in the clutch pack (plates rattle less) there is less wear over time....bonus

  9. I did the quiet clutch mod at about 5,000 miles on my ST4s. The original pack lasted 38,000 miles and the basket and drum had barely a mark on them. So well worth doing.

  10. ok cheers

  11. I know im a bit of a noob, but will this also work on a ST2?

  12. This will work on any Ducati that uses a dry clutch.
