Very shocked to see that Chris Walker has closed his rather smart dealership in Grantham. It's on a regular route for me and was always a great place to stop to look at the bikes and use the great cafe.
I did hear the other day that a dealer had ten new ducati's, but no buyers...with movement lockdown on it's way,is the sign of things to come for other dealers with massive overheads.
Dealers are still selling bikes, for sure... Greenham Kawasaki near me seems to have them trickling out the door at a decent rate, and I just bought my V2 and was one of 2 people picking my bike up on a wednesday! and on the saturday when I was doing paperwork there were 3 handovers. The market is still there but if anything the model ranges need to be reduced slightly to keep the dealer floors moving, if you look at Triumph it's getting ridiculous
Premises were vacant with a 'for rent' sign outside and it was all empty..... I'll go that way again, if Boris allows, just to check.
I'm really pleased to say that Chris Walker has moved and not closed. He has moved a few hundred metres to larger premises just up the road towards Grantham Town Centre.
You’ll all be pleased to know he is also a Ducati dealer now, although with very few bikes. There all on order, but not delivered. Free coffee and tea this week. Need a haircut, tattoo and a new bike ? They do the lot. 25% off stuff also.
Not surprised by this news tbh. 1 or 2 Ducati dealers in the East Anglia region have closed over the last 12 months and as Chris raced a Ducati at times, it maybe have been a wise choice in the long run.
