Are chargers listed as smart chargers ok for lithium? When I search 12v lithium charger the usual lithium only ones come up but so do these cheaper smart chargers.
Be wary. They need a specific type of circuit and safety cut out to be able to correctly and safely charge lithium batteries. Some will do different types but not all. Leave the cheapy ones alone Something like the Noco Genius 2A would work well and retails under 50 quid. https://no.co/genius2
You need to look into the small print. A quick check of a CTEK smart charger on Amazon states for lead acid chemistry batteries. Two major no no’s, charge voltage exceeding 14.9v and a desulphating programme. I have 4 NOCO chargers, 2 x Genius 2 and 2 x 3500. Both are excellent chargers. Andy
I have the optimate one and it's spot on. 60 or 70 quid I think it was. Has to be a lithium specific one as said above
I’ve this one and found it excellent I have a lithium battery and a few normal batteries and it works well on all , I can’t remember how much it was I think it was about £60 https://www.ringautomotive.com/en/product/RSC706
I've just purchased the CTEK Lithium charger as i was using an Optimate 4 and CTEK MXS 5.0 on lithium batteries without realising the difference. I'm hoping that the battery on the RSV4 (was being charged by the CTEK MXS 5.0) isn't fooked!
I have a Lithium charger available for free. You just need to get the cable that attaches to the battery - but you could always wire up something yourself. You just need to collect or pay for the postage.
