Anyone with a 1260 running the full Termi system, can you confirm if it's running slightly rich and that the end can has black soot around the tip? Nothing crazy, just a reside left after a while of not cleaning? I got the full kit from Ducati and had them fit it before they delivered the bike to me, so it has the termi mapping and air filters etc. Also, the mid pipes, it's certainly not a smooth finish after a lot of winter riding and doesn't look too smart. I'm sure an afternoon polishing the pipes (oi oi) will bring it back to new. I'm just curious.
Mine is sooty. Most I've seen are the same. But I too would be interested in the best way to clean the mid pipes. @Gimmethecash suggestion of moving to Southern Califonia, whilst attractive, seems a little extreme!
Mines sooty too , I also have a charred numberplate. The mid pipe finish is also pretty poor , in fact it’s biz.
Ok, not just me then, the soot is fine to live with as long as it's normal. The mid pipes are gash, I'm gonna polish them as best I can and treat them with ACF 50 and see how it goes later this year.
My 1200 Termi is black with soot, my right indicator is also black and, after a recent track day, my number plate has half melted and is now shaped like a pringle.
All natural and to be expected with a full Termi system and having the opportunity to benefit from listening to and hearing the 'music' this system makes when in use, not really a big issue. Hear the noise and clean the can/pipes/number plate often...... Enough said
Don't agree, the exhaust when properly set-up and used appropriately, converts the engine music into a great sound and with the baffle in, absolutely not outrageous or loud. It's my opinion of course, but hey!
Just think of them as an item, a little like a Trombone player and the rider is the conductor. All 3 together making sweet music.
I cut some 1mm thick alloy sheet to the size of my number plate, spray it black (optional) and put that behind the number plate with washers as spacers to create an air gap. Acts as a heat deflector and is pretty much un noticeable at first glance. Done this on all three multis I have owned and it works a treat protecting the number plate. Costs next to nothing. I think I got the tip off here!
I did exactly the same with 2mm alloy plate, sprayed matt Black, no washers or air gap, and it’s been fine, no issue with the number plate, although it is a little smaller than the correct full size option
Agreed, removed the baffle and motorway miles and casual rides, it's not loud. Actually more silent in urban mode for the built up areas! Even then, it's not an insane horrible noise, it's absolutely stunning. As for the thermostat item, not sure I'd call that an upgrade, more a conversion. Keep an eye on it mate, these 1260 engines have been around long enough for Ducati to find faults and if they want them running low heat, then there must be a reason. Not having a go, just my thoughts on it.
