So about a month and a half and 300 ish miles ago my 65 plate 1200 DVT flashed up an EML light which was solid then flashed then became solid again. The bike seemed to run fine and un able to get it to ducati I managed to get my local Kwak dealer to scan it. They found the following faults: 1. exhaust valve (I have the valve healer fitted and was told this was an old non cleared code from quite a while back so probably not the reason the EML light lit up) 2. suspension pre load adjuster (dont know about this one however I did run the rear suspension through its full travel with no issues and it appears change on ride modes as it should) 3. vertical cylinder oxygen sensor heater error 4. misfire detected in one of the two cylinders 5.misfire detected in vertical cylinder. The kwak dealership cleared the codes and I've done about 300 miles since with no issues until today when the EML light came back on. I believe the battery is good as its reading 12.6v on the bike with ignition on but not running and 14v+ once running it also lives on a decent optimiser. I have no way of reading the codes myself and i'm hoping my local ducati place will re open at some point soon so I can get it in there. in the mean time has anyone had simular issues ? I'm thinking a lambda sensor may be the issue on the vertical cylinder but apart from that I have no idea.
Your battery reading at rest of 12.6v is a little low, should be around 13.8v. Not saying this the issue but something to consider. Low voltage can cause all manner of issues and errors.
Hmmm the battery is original on a 65 plate so may be not at its best. Being on a ctek optimiser all the time may have masked the issue as the first time it spat its dummy and threw the EML I'd had my charger on another bike so the multi had been sat for 2 weeks with no top up. I'll pick up a direct replacement Yuasa YT12B-BS from halfords today (already orderd ) and get it fitted. Obviously the fault code will remain on the bike but I'm hoping that the Kwak place is open and I can get the codes read and cleared, if they are random then it may have been a low battery at cranking throwing random codes. If the EML re appears then for £69 for the battery and £30 ish for the code read and reset I will have at least proven that its not the battery. currently in my neck of the woods (berkshire hampshire border) all the ducati dealers and service centers are shut hence the trip to kwak. I did also check all the fuses yesterday and found none fractured but did replace some that looked a bit tired.
Any updates as to what the final problem was? I also am getting an EML for engine misfires, so wanted to see what you learned.
