I recently was given one of the above as a present from the Missus as I am doing more track days and thought a quick review might be helpful for those considering buying this suit. Mine came from Sportsbike shop and the service was excellent. I am pretty short at 5' 5" and have a 42 chest so I was a bit worried about fit. I ordered a UK 42. Fit. Its very much a race suit, and the built in airbag emphasises this compared to my M2M track leathers. The kangaroo leather is super soft, super supple and perforated. That makes up the chest, belly and thighs. The rest of the leather is cow hide. With my short stature the legs and arms are too long. Not massively and I can work around this as both go inside gloves or boots. I found leaving the last inch and a half of the leg zip undone helps slide the excess over the front of my ankle. The arms are about an inch too long which is basically all the neoprene material. Easy to get remedied if I chose (as is the leg length). Most people recommend going up a size which I would have done but then the leg/arm problem would really come into play for me. The suit is a good fit on me with just my wicking top and leggings on. Its "snug" on the belly but its a remarkably good fit for off the peg. I am 70kg. Set-up. In & Motion airbag. I chose an annual subscription at £120 per annum rather than paying outright as price wise there is not a lot in it and the lease option offers flexibility. DO NOT try and activate the subscription for the In&Motion international website. You have to use the UK one or you cant register. Link: https://uk.inemotion.com/myinemotion/en/moto-membership Download the app, My In&box. Follow the instructions and you are good to go. You get a track subscription FOC for first year from RST with the suit. Everything you need comes with the suit. On the bike. Super comfortable. The cut of the suit really suits a sports bike crouch. Airflow on vented bits is brilliant. The back protector feels reassuringly "there". You can feel it and it initially feels a bit stiff. Not uncomfortable but you are aware of it. Im not sure how comfy this version of the suit would be on a more upright bike (I was on my Daytona 765). If that were the case Id be going for the more relaxed version. The brains is configurable for road and track use. The lack of pockets and hump make this suit a challenge on the road, especially if you dont have luggage possibilities on your bike. But, the electronic box can be swapped into any other In&Motion vest using the same subscription. I am going to get myself a new RST road leather jacket and get the zip altered so I can join it to my Alpinestars leather trousers. It does feel safe, but riding the bike I did not actually think much about it TBH. Which is a good thing I think - must be comfy. Some pics of the gubbins:
I have to get mine adjusted as my arms and legs are always too long. Well worth it. Good review though, I might need a new suit soon and was looking at these or full custom set
I tried the exactly same suit on at Sportsbikeshop last week. Really liked the overall quality and fit but it was just too short in the body for me - serious moose knuckle and pain in the shoulders . Again going up a size would be an option but then it would be too big on my skinny arms and thighs so I have my heart set on made to measure. Unfortunately RST will only make their custom suits for racers and ACU licence holders, so I have to get booked on a licence day first and they seem few and far between.
I would think adjustments to leg and arms are ok (avoiding any stretch panels) but I would not think it advisable/possible to have the body of the suit altered due to the built in airbag.
I had a suit made, all leather. The Spandex panel around the groin Is a big no-no. Let me know if you break your pelvis during your next big off.
You are more likely to do such damage through impact and I seriously doubt that cow hide or Kevlar would offer any serious impact protection. Maybe you should invest in a pair if Wallace’s trousers? H2H.
