V4 Dash Sat Nav

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by roundincircles, Jun 1, 2021.

  1. I notice the V4 has Navigation on the screen.

Can you use predetermined gpx routes?

If so how do you do that?

Typically I use Garmin on tour, the main benefit is the ability to scroll out and get an overview and/or ignore a waypoint on the route.

  2. The dash is a smart phone mirror. You need to load the partner navigation app (not Garmin or TomTom) onto your phone and let the phone do the navigation. The dash will mirror the navigation when you pair the two. IMO, stick with your Garmin. Andy

  3. So do I assume it won't take imported gpx routes.....I agree, stick with my stand-alone Garmin but I thought if that can be substituted......

  4. My limited understanding is that your assumption is correct. There are several posts in one of the Multistrada threads that discusses the topic further. All I know for certain is that Ducati have gone in to partnership with Sygic, probably the biggest sat nav company you have never heard of. I just found this link which might explain further, https://www.ducati.com/ww/en/bikes/multistrada/multistrada-v4/ducati-connect-and-mirroring. Andy

  5. Don't see why it would not import .gpx files. My BMW does. I plan on calimoto and then export the route to the phone, in my case the BMW app. Would expect that the Ducati system is similar. The BMW app uses offline Tomtom mapping.

  6. Thanks.

  7. I just found this

    https://www.sygic.com/developers/professional-navigation-sdk/android/faq/long-haul-guided-routes

so gpx is not supported if I understand.

  8. I've not tried this yet (still waiting for my bike)... but thought I'd share in case it helps

  9. Make your GPX trips in Myroute app export them as itn file then use ITN/ITF converter (freeware) to convert this file into Sygic route file (itf) then copy this file with computer to your Android phone in folder \android\data\com.sygic.aura\files\res\itinerary
And before you open Ducati connect open Sygic and under routes you should find your GPX converted file please note that Sygic has limitations to the number of waypoints I think 48?. Then open Ducati app and now when you switch to Sygic it will start with your GPX(itf) file.
My problem is that for whatever reason the Ducati app looses connection with the Ducati V4s  although the software was recently updated in the factory after overhaul valve stems.

  10. If you're looking for an alternative to tom tom or garmin for your phone to mirror it on the Multi V4, then download Calimoto. It supports all the GPX versions and is bloody brilliant. I use it for random route generation when I can't be bothered to setup the Garmin (also get a quad lock for your phone).

Lastly, pay for Calimoto if you get it, so many tight bastards these days penny pinching over stupid shit. The app is brilliant and deserves the money they ask for it.

  11. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the V4 dash mirroring isn't an across the board, all apps thing. Tied down to using Sygic and that's it.

  12. Your correct for the moment only Sygic works with Ducati connect app

  13. You CAN import gpx files. See this YouTube file:

  14. I find it a lot easier to get lost and ask for directions.

You meet the nicest people with no Sat Nav.....

  15. The MyRouteApp method is not working for me, it opens the Play store rather than Sygic.
I reached out to their support and they told me that since the recent update of Sygic these issues appeared. They are currently in the process of contacting Sygic, but have not yet heard from their tech team.
They are asking users to get into contact with Sygic, to give them a nudge!
