A702. Elvanfoot to Carronbridge. And, Hartside pass. Both very different. Both might need “care” at certain times. Hit them right though and have a ball. St Marys Loch to Moffat. Care might also be needed, but some awesome tight corners and yumps!
A684 Leyburn to Sedburgh. Defo need to pick your time, but I think the same is true everywhere these days.
I made this from an article on the 100 best biking roads in ride mag in 2019, been working on ticking them all of since --> https://goo.gl/maps/xhezLhDEuVDfdJpv6
The Marches for me, again pretty much any road. Clun out toward Newtown is a nice stretch narrow and wide in places with some nice curvy sections.
Military canal road from Rye to Appledore in Kent. Not to long but long straights and sweeping double bends. Downside, if you get it wrong you get wet!
I meant the Snake pass was spoiled by the 50 speed limit, but I might be mixed up about the fixed cameras. There are certainly lots of mobile traps though. Not a place to speed.
Not done that (B4368). How does it compare with Knighton to Newtown B4355? My proposal for this area is Crossgates to Newtown A483
I avoid the A483 at the weekend, especially at this time of year. Too many fast cars and bikes pushing their luck. That's a reason it's heavily policed at these times. On Sunday we stopped at Crossgates for an ice cream and in the short time we were there four sports cars (a couple of Porches, a Lambo and a Lotus) were escorted into the car park by a pair of pursuit vehicles and were read the riot act/issued with tickets.
A good tip. I had no idea others had turned it into a race track. It was quiet when I was there. Shame.
There's a book I got bought called 'Britains Best Biking Roads', has a lot of those in. Likewise I've been ticking them off slowly. Cotswolds, Cornwall and Norfolk/Suffolk I've not really touched yet.
B1176 / A151 Grantham to Bourne ,through Bitchfield and Corby Glen in Lincolnshire...Roller-coaster of a road through lush middle England, always my 'go to' road for brilliant fun!
Mmmm, I’ve been passed along that road by bikes touching at least 130mph. Not heading towards Crossgates but going the other way along the bypass closer to Newtown. Passed a solitary Police officer on Saturday morning in a village at 8 am with a camera, we had been briskly riding towards said Policeman. We were forewarned by on coming cars so rode through at 15 mph so as to salute him and his endeavour. Reckon he’d pulled himself off listening to us approaching in anticipation of a record breaking bust .
Glad you don’t want to include the fantastic roads in the Home Counties, there will be less bikes on them as a result. There are so many even within the M25.
