Cheap 999 mono Ventura rack on Gumtree

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by chrisw, Feb 24, 2013.

  1. Does that only fit mono bikes? It looks like it fits to the pillion peg mounts?

  2. It bolts onto the rear subframe mounting for the mono. Whether it would fit the biposto I do not know. I have this system for my own 999 mono and it is not as stable as my 1198 one that has two fastening points.

  3. Here's how the system fits

  4. Cheers for the photo,

That's where I thought it'd fit. Would bolt on the same but I wounder if the mono is narrower at the back where the rack spans over the seat than the bip.

  5. Think you're right and you'd probably lose the pillion seat.

  6. Must save tyre wear above 120mph...

  7. so i was thinking to get the Ventura for my 999 monoposto, now i'm a lot of doubt!!

  8. I didn't know 999's went that fast that ducati supplied a parachute to aid slowing down!

  9. 017.jpg 018.jpg I bought a couple of Ventura side rails cheap and made a small rack from scrap copper . Where the spigots go into the sides is same OD as an endfeed fitting so double thickness where it counts and strong enough. Cost me about £20 inc the ventura bits.

  10. Nice, and you get to dry your towels as you go along as well?

  11. Don't park near any pikeys. That'll get stripped and weighted in.

  12. theres a whole new topic we have not explored- polishing your luggage rack. what polish do you use - brasso? copperslip?

  13. Haven't actually used it yet, I'll spray it black if I do. We travel really light, a tank bag and small backpack does us for a couple of weeks wash'ngo.
