I have a 848 evo with termi slipons and It’s one of my favourite sounding bikes ive ever owned, with pops and bangs on deceleration. I’m thinking of exchanging it for a 1198 and just wondered if the sound is just as good as the 848?
I preferred the sound of my 1198 with the slash cut slip ons rather than afterwards when I put the full 70 on and had it dynoed. It was a much nicer boom. After with full 70, it was a more angry sounding boom.
I have the slash cut termis also on the 848. I just wondered if it sounded good due to it running lean maybe, or if both 848 and 1198 had the same on overrun.
My old 1198 sounded great, but I had the ecu and filter that came with the termi slash cuts. I guess my fuelling was ok. I subsequntly had a full 70 fitted and CJS tuned it. It ran perfectly but I felt it moved my torque up a bit and made it sound more angry. I liked the cheerful boom of it with just the slash cuts, ecu and filter. I also preferred the power delivery with just slash cuts. But, you know how it is. Sometimes you put stuff on because you can and not because you should. It was a 99% road and 1% track. If It was more 50/50 or greater towards track, then the 70 would make more sense. But thats just me, we're all different. My 1299S is even louder.
Prefer the sound of 1198 to 848, deeper boom sound to my ear. Prefer the sound of my 1198 to my 1199 too, the Pani always sounded a bit knitting machine to me, and I once mistook an approaching 1199 for a learner 125 with a can on, until I saw it However I think my 748 sounds the best of the lot!
