Speed Restrictors Coming

  1. Thought it was 112 mph, but you can push past it if necessary with all sorts of alarms going.
Then after a couple of years when everyone is used to it, the new restrictors will not let you go past that speed at all.
After all if the speed limit is 70 why do you want to go faster....????

  2. If you look at the statistics lots of people die at speeds below 100mph but very few travelling at over 150mph. Therefore I conclude driving at over 150mph is safer!

  4. It's only matter of time before insurers start loading policies that don't have a "voluntary" speed limiter or black box speed recorder fitted. And once all cars have these on board digital snitches, it probably won't be much longer before the data is required to be sent back to some centralised super computer which analyses it and sends out automated penalty notices to drivers who have exceeded the limit.

  5. Identity cards were seen for what they are: a step to having to prove at any point who you are for no reason at all. The public saw it and it didn’t happen.

MMR and other vaccines are strongly recommended and still very much choice.

Covid has changed it all. Jabs compulsory. Some kind of proof which happen to have all your identity compulsory.

Start with speed. Move to location and destinations/route and you have the full house.

I can feel me reaching for the tin foil. And probably with good reason….

  7. I am surprised it has taken this long. We have lived through a golden age (been driving since early 80s) and considering the available tech and maximum speed limits, 100mph seems like a bonus. As to motorcycles, there are loads of roads around here where there is no requirement to go to triple figures to have fun.
The main problem though, they/them will not stop at 100mph. It will become more draconian. Halcyon days have been numbered for some time. Enjoy whats left.

  8. I feel like I should give myself a good slap for saying it, but I have to agree

  9. Like most on here i've had a ball on motorcycles & cars over the years but would like at least another 5 years before any change's are implemented.

  10. Any new legislation won't be retrospective.
Just buy secondhand or keep what you've got.

It's a non issue unless people are obsessed with having everything brand new.

  11. If people stop buying new, there is no secondhand market.

So is this the end of the supercar market. Ferrari may close their doors and go home

  13. I feel sorry for my children who probably will never have the same Adrenalin and speed experiences we have(had)

  14. Nor freedoms. Far more worrying than simply doing a ton twenty on the A272

  15. That goes for a lot of things. There was a sweet spot from round about the 60s to the 90s in the UK where life wasn't hellish for all but the top echelon, there were no major wars and people were more or less left in peace by the Govt, but since then inequality has been on the rise and the Govt is constantly in your business one way or the other. I feel for the kids who have never known a world without overbearing surveillance, it's only going to get worse and not even or exclusively at the hands of the Govt as every tinpot little Hitler with a camera thinks they're a policeman these days.

In fact I am in the middle of writing a scathing email to the landlord company who ran my son's uni halls of residence where he lived last term because they went way beyond the boundaries of what was acceptable and more or less set themselves up as a Covid Regs enforcement militia. They subjected the students to arbitrary rules that went beyond Govt guidance, installed 24/7 CCTV surveillance and they even tried to implement a North Korean-esque system whereby students were encouraged to anonymously inform on each other in exchange for rewards. It's clear from what he has told me that the staff were getting a kick out of pushing the kids around (sometimes literally) and it got so bad that he no longer felt comfortable living there. Despite turning the place into a 21st Century version of the Stanford Prison Experiment, they still want their money though.

  16. The ICE supercar industry is dead in the water anyway, as emissions legislation will be the end of these companies if they don't shift to EV/hydrogen fuel cell.

Currently all manufacturers have to pay €95 for every gramme of CO2 over the 95g/km limit. I dread to think what the CO2 output of a typical Ferrari is..

I wouldn't be surprised if similar legislation isn't implemented for bikes in the next few years as well.

  17. I was coming from the speed perspective, we are going to have little battery powered cars that don't exceed 70, I'm sure they will reduce that in time.
    Exciting times ahead.

  18. Well, I'll tell you my plan: I'm pushing 60 in a few years and when this sh1t kicks in, I will move, repeatedly if necessary, to countries where it's not in effect. I'm a Welsh boy and always will be but I'm not having this level of control imposed on me. As someone said above though, feel bad for the kids (prob mine) who will never get to touch 170 on a deserted motorway at 1am

  19. There needs to be more control in the 30 and 40's, I think that's the area most in need of mandated/electronic restrictions. I guess that's more difficult than an electronic capping on top speed.
