I might well be missing something here but I'm trying to search for info on exhausts. I can't find a search facility. Am I missing something? In short I want the exhaust to sound meatier and louder but don't really fancy any of the after market offerings. I really like the look of the original so would like to keep it. So what do you think?
There was a post either on Ducati MS or on Ducatisti (in which case its gone forever) of a chap that removed the innards of his cat box... ie from the outside it looked completely standard, but inside there was nothing. (I dont think he was a gyneacologist haha, seem to remember he cut flaps out of the box and then braised them shut again) I myself did the mivv de cat conversion with a short termi stubby. It sounds fantastic, really deep and throaty, just like it should, but its tooooo loooud!
That's been done and most guys that did that ended up using an aftermarker can/silencer as with the OE tail pipe (that has no baffles or damping effect at all) they found it way too loud!....all the 'silencing' on the MTS12 is done by the CAT box. Full Termi for me......no choice at the time but I'm really happy with it, replacement 'Race' ECU brings all sorts of benefits, comes with free-flow air filter, has big bore pipework......but costs a bloody fortune! SEARCH: Top right of every page for Site Search or just above the red bar on the right of any forum topics listing 'Search Forum' text link (Advanced search is particularly useful ;-)
Like AndyW I went for full system, expensive not so nice looking as original can BUT sounds gorgeous and transforms the bike, it took a bit of time to get the ECU set up correctly but DG didn't give up and it is peachybrommo to ride now.....which is what it is all about IMHO.
In Hindsight In hindsight perhaps I should have gone the full Termi route....considering the sums: mivv decat pipe £100 second hand from a friendly forum member! BR baffle £25 waste of time will be throwing it away Termi stubby £299 new dyno tune by Chris CJS racing £495 So I am getting close to the price of the full exhaust....If it was new I think the full Mivv costs about £500 plus Why Mivv Some of the others dont have the stopper bracket for the centre stand...not an issue if you only have a side stand, but I have both so wanted the stopper to work! I can only recommend the decat pipe...it makes the bike perform better, not just in power, but my consumption improved substantially (see www.fuelly.com) and the surging was 90% gone. I need to do something about the noise though (as much as I love the deep throaty roar and low down gurggle when decellerating) I just know I am going get into trouble... Am thinking seriously of getting a Ghibli exhaust from Mivv for £300 odd, then will have to sell the termi stubby! Do yourself a favour get rid of the cat box!!! PS standard 2xpipe slip on is not a silence/muffler, so just as loud as my termi slip on! Silencing is done with the cat box.
The OEM exhaust on this bike sounds shite for want of a better word, I got the Mivv de-cat to start with as i liked the original look, But the noise got on my tits after a while so i got the Suono end can ... Great.. till the pile of shit blew apart , Refund and back to the catalitic crap.. No way am i payin the best part of 2 K for the termi Bazooka.
Have you looked at SPARK systems? We started bringing them into the UK last year....fantastic quality....
Re the Search facility Andy - I'm using Tapatalk on iPad and haven't yet found a search option. Other than that it's pretty good.
Back to the point........ Much I like the sound on the Termi's, I don't like the look of them and am far too tight to lash out 2k + on something I really don't like the look of. The search continues....
bob cooper has fitted the QD exhausts I believe and from memory is extremely delighted with them.Do a google image search for pics. Its another mortgage payment for them though! I am on Galaxy 10.1 tab without tapatalk and search button is visible
Managed to find the Search button, it was back at the start which isn't very useful. Anyhoo.....found the site, and don't like that one either. I'm sure the quality is great but I really prefer the original. Yes, I know, I'm hard to please . In truth I don't find any real problems with the stock other than it being too quite which is why I can hear nothing but wind noise over 50. On my Hyper I hear the can all the time which is probably why I don't hear the wind
I am thinking about the Leo vince midpipe with a stubby, looks good and comes with muffler inside the midpipe. Bugs
I have the LV Decat and carbon can - really responsive and nice sound.. Previously had Mivv Decat with carbon Termi stubby but the noise was ultimately too loud
Quat-D. No other. The absolute dogs bollocks. Ducati soul amplified. Loud-ish. Yes, but soooo rich. Bugger the expense; do it. You'll laugh out loud in your helmet. Like a maniac.
Interesting.... Says here... Leo Vince Ducati Multistrada 1200 exhaust - Product News - Visordown ...that the link pipe has a baffle in it AND can be used with the stock end can. That means it can also be used with the Termi shorty can too (same fitment). Although, how quiet (?) it would be is debatable, as it also says that the LV end can has removable baffles.... And at £427.50 for the link pipe, and £550 for the end can, it isn't cheap...you're almost in full system territory there! Finn, you've run both the Termi shorty/mivv link pipe and LV set ups, how do you rate the 'noise' between the two? David
