Well not without a "vibration-dampening mount". Apple iPhone risk from powerful motorbike vibrations https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58507764
Not just iPhones. Any high-end phone with a camera using similar tech, ie image-stabilistion. Had a vibration dampener on mine for some time. Both QuadLock and SP Connect supply them for their systems.
Interesting statement from Apple here. BBC News - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58507764.amp Alt Source - https://www.startuppacks.com/tech/b... Here’s the technical explanation from Apple: Personally, I keep my phone in my pocket and use the Multistrada Bluetooth to sync everything up so not at risk. I was a bit sceptical at first, so had a search and found various posts on various forums with members reporting the issues with the iPhone cameras, most mentioning the use of QuadLocks. QuadLock now have a Vibration Dampener and have a non exclusive list of bikes that could be effected by vibrations, There are a couple of Ducati's are on the list https://www.quadlockcase.com/blogs/news/introducing-the-vibration-dampener Also, it is worth noting that most Optical Image Stabilisation tech works in the same way as Apple's so I would imagine a number of the high end Android devices could be at risk too. That being said, all issues would probably be fixed under a warranty for a new phone so no major cause for concern, but one worth noting. Anyone had any issues with a mounted phone?
Yep, it’s been a thing for quite a while, the vibration wrecks the image stabilisation on the camera, an issue with the amount of cameras in phones now!!
Yep I had this on mine from using a quadlock. Was fine on my old GSXR but not on the Duc. Luckily it happened while my phone was still under warranty (by a handful of days) so took it to the Apple store with no case on and they replaced the image stabilisation under warranty. Complained to quadlock and they sent me the dampener attachment and I've had no problems since
A Ducati/iphone problem? My GS has less vibes than my Monster 1200, two separate high end android phones have survived many miles of travel on GS1200s with zero issues.
If its only at risk from 'powerful motorcycle vibrations' surely all the OP has to do is buy a Honda ?
It could be worse! "The noise and vibration issues led to an independent review in June to identify the root cause, but this was then itself suspended following reports of injuries to members of the testing crews." https://www.janes.com/defence-news/...-give-update-on-troubled-ajax-programme_19116 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Dynamics_Ajax What is it about MoD procurement, regardless of which government is in power?
So even though the camera app is off, the image stabilisation is still in use. So the camera is still on?
I don't think that's the case, It's a mechanical component so even if it's not in use it's still going to be effected by the vibrations.
Same issue has been reported by enduro and even mountain bike users, I’ve got a Quadlock dampener for mine and had no issues, although won’t be using it on the Multi anymore but that’s a different issue
