If you are going to pay for a well made and easy to use one then the 748 style single sided is a dam site better made than ones that have two legs for bobbins either side. Also it is fr easier to use than pissing about trying to hold the bike square on your own and align two pegs with the bobbins. Once on the stand it is also more secure!
Note that one cannot remove rear wheel if using a 748/9*6 single sided stand however it will be fine for simply holding the bike upright.
thats just a Ducati Gubbelini rear stand for a variety of Ducatis, you just change the pin size. The 748 pin size fits a 749 999 axle, so as I first said, get a 748/996/998 stand with interchangeable pin. then when you upgrade to a 1198 or a Panigale or a v4 you jut swap the pin and off you go...
so true and i wish i had thought of this before. i have a mk2 749 and spent ages trying to get a harris 2 prong jobby for cheap monies on ebay. i did finally get one and it works fine but its a faff to locate the bobbins and the bike is certainly not as stable as the 748 is on the same stand that you have
Look up the guys at C R Racefit, they will make you a titanium stand with fixed bobbin retainers, welding is excellent and fits perfect, easy to set up on your own, I have one for the 999 and they made a one off for our Moto 3
