Wear on left hand fork leg

  1. Anyone noticed a similar problem on their Mutleys? Looks to be caused by brake line rubbing when front dives under braking.

  2. I could be wrong but really can't see your brake line doing that kind of damage, have you checked the line itself.... Surely that would show signs of wear and would wear before metal ?? Plus the damage looks very rough

  3. My old bike 2011 did that, I think its quite common.

  4. Gary, I had exactly the same problem with my MTS. I got the leg changed under warranty. There are lots that have done the same and sorry knightrider but it is the brake line that causes the problem. If your bike is still under warranty ask them to change it.

  5. Well what can I say ...... Just checked mine and showing similar wear gutted as now out of warranty.... I really thought there would have been more posts about this :(

  6. you guys need to get the bare metal protected because the corrosion will start to eat in soon......been there done that,
the ali slider is £300 for the old air cooled ones.....bet yours is more.....but its not too big a job to change

  7. Will talk to dealer today. Thank God I got the extended warranty!

  8. Any suggestion on how to STOP it from happening or in my case getting worse, first thing i can think of is put some ventureshield round the pipe, I have from day 1 used the stuff on the fork tubes but only covered front half to protect from stone chips.

just getting the tubes replaced wont stop it from happening again :(

  9. I've just noticed the same wear pattern on my two month old Multi with Sachs forks.

I've got some clear self adhesive tape which is pretty tough as it's used for repairing gutters etc. I've cut a strip just big enough to cover the wear area. It's not noticeable and hopefully should stop further wear. I got the tape from B&Q or Homebase iirr.

  10. Mines got it too  26 months old now and 16789 miles. Poo.

  11. So that'll be me rushing into the garage when I get home tomorrow night to see if my bike is suffering the same way. I thought I was safe until I saw the post from kevpix about his bike having this type of damage.

  12. Shocking that can happen, but it's only cosmetic is it not??? No way to route cable so it's not touching, maybe a cable tie somewhere?

  13. This was reported on in the old site, a clear plastic film on fork leg will give protection and stop the wear

  14. yup its common, I have got a packet of the number-plate sticky pads and put one on. bugs

  15. no wear marks on my fork legs. Maybe it depends on where the plastic clip is that holds the abs sensor ?

You might be able to move the hose at the caliper end to put more of a curve in it, or pull it through the clamp on the front of the bottom yolk a bit more.

  16. Yup! My 15000 mile 2010 has it too. Just noticed it Weds while clueing actually. It's got the extended warranty, so I guess that'll I'll raise it with my dealer. Bit nervous though as I have the 2010 S with Ohlins electronic suspension. Not sure I want that fork stripped and the outer slider replaced and I dread to think what the cost of a new Ohlins leg is, meaning I have a feeling the dealer may push back!

  17. Mine is fine, no marks at all. Looking at I can see how the position of the banjo at the caliper will affect the lie of the brake hose and the attached cable.

  18. just spotted on mine too....2010 S....arrrg

  19. Checked mine , no marks , approx. 3/8'' clearance to forks , there are 3 bango's that can be adjusted up or down and turned to give better clearance .
