Hi I was looking at buying a 750 ss but I'm a bit confused as some say 750 sport others say 750 ssie and some say 750 supersport. Can anyone tell me what the difference is? Also the 750 SS Senna is that a limited edition or just a reference to the colour? Thanks
SSie refers to the later, fuel injected models, 750 sport is a lower spec injected model I believe, the 750SS or Supersport generally refers to the carbureted earlier model with the more "classic" styling and square headlamp. If you want that retro stylish look with comfortable riding position and a low seat and are prepared to put up with carb icing in cold weather and occasional reluctance to start, the carby SS is the one for you. If you are happy with the swoopy lines of the later injected model, along with firm suspension, a racier riding position, a bit more power and a higher seat, the SSie may interest you. As a bonus, the SSie will always start and run faultlessly, no matter how long it's been stood up or however cold or warm it is!
I like the idea of more power and reliability of the ie. I've read that the super sport has 66bhp what is it on the ie? Is the desmondue model any different? Thanks
The carbed SS will start easily if you leave the throttle alone when you press the button. There is also the much earlier SS not to be confused with the carbed Supersport (SS) and the injected Supersport (SSIE)..... May I suggest you do some Googling? AL
I did some googling which is where I think I've got confused. All the bikes in looking at are either 2000, 2001, 2002. My first big bike was a 1994 monster 600. I'm thinking after having a Suzuki and a BMW of going back to a Duke. Fully faired this time.
1st SSie was late 98/99 year, so the ones you're looking at are all fuel Injected, unless a very late registration.
