1260 Exhaust Way Too Loud

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Strongbowed, Nov 26, 2021.

  1. Hi,

so I have fitted a de link pipe and termignoni carbon can to my 1260s. Problem I have is that it’s way too LOUD. They don’t do a baffle for the end can so I was wondering if anyone has fitted any online db killers at all?? And if so which ones?? Thanks in advance!!

  2. Maybe try the standard cat box with the termi end can OR do what a few other members have done & remove the honeycomb internal part of the standard cat box to give it a little more growl but not to make it too aggressive sounding

  3. Hi

thanks for the reply, l like the sound of removing the honeycomb internal part of the standard cat. Is there a link to how this is done?? Thanks so much for the reply.

  4. But loud pipes save lives. I heard it here.

  5. Sell that dinky little Termi end can, it's only a bit of bling and popular on ebay. Then buy a proper end can off Arrow, Akropovik, or some other decent manufacturer.

  7. unless you have the tools & skills to cut & re weld stainless steel I would let the professional to do, find a local engineering company & discuss it with them

  8. Look on the forum. I think there is a thread regarding decatting the standard box.
I’ve personally decatted 4 boxes and, although a little time consuming, it’s not too difficult.

  9. Yep… cheers Norm…

  10. It's a bit of work but the ability to have a loud bike that stinks and pollutes is well worth it

  11. This happens when you decat. 90% of the silencing us done in the cat box. IMHO, its a modification best left alone - just fit an end can. Its a bit louder but not unpleasantly so :)

Well this is what happens when you do a De-cat.... er, very little really other than a bit free-er breathing and a bit more noise, which is by no means obtrusive.
The main benefit is that you already have the cat section, relatively easily modified, and if stopped whilst riding abroad, specifically Germany,Switzerland & Lux, you have virtually no chance of being pulled for a system that doesn't comply.
(If we ever get the chance to go abroad again.!)
Your cat box looks identical and the end can will be stamped BS approved + E circled, just like the above.
    Anyways don't listen to us.

You do what YOU want to do... It's your bike and your choice..

  13. Getting the full Termi on my 1260 was the best mod I’ve done. Just do it!

  14. Yep. Go decat and arrow or LeoVince with baffles. Longer can means quieter as general a rule.

  15. The police, especially in Europe use noise meters.

It matters not if your bike looks stock or modified. Too loud and you are nicked...in some countries and areas (like the Tyrell), the bike is impounded - irrespective of any CE markings

  16. Not in my experience. Having been stopped too many times to count due to the group of sports bikes I ride with. I’ve not once been metered.
However, twice by German plod, once by Lux, I have been inspected and on all occasions, the stamping has confirmed that the items are E approved and nothing had happened.
Looks like we’ll agree to differ.

  17. Nice to see they have caught all the real criminals and that they have spare time on their hands to move on to harassing law 'abiding' tax paying citizens!!!

  19. I tend to avoid Germany as they don’t even have google earth ………., is it the new V3

  20. The OEM Pikes Peak Termi is just a cosmetic straight-through pipe.
Now that you have fitted a de-cat header, IMO you're best option is to purchase a real rear-end silencer.
