I'd like to transplant a 900ss engine - yours hopefully, into my '97 ss frame, which is currently a 600cc. carby. I like carbed engines, possibly because i wont change my ways, or maybe because I'm used to servicing them since a lad in the 70s. Perhaps an IE, if I could convert it... I suppose that'd mean swapping an alternator, perhaps. Do pm me. Thank you for your interest. John
98 engine here on ebay from a dealer so you get some sort of warranty unlike the private sales. It should be the same regarding the chassis fixings, but do yuor checks or maybe others on here know better than me, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/29474557...EwLkcG%2FQ%3D%3D|clp:2334524|tkp:BFBMtPzIjdZf
Thanks, XH558, yes, I'd seen that, ad was pondering. Yes its same fixings I believe, but this is an I.E. Not sure exactly what I would have to do to convert the timing signals to suit a carby, yet.I'll do another search for info. I was told a few weeks ago here to expect t pay around £500 ish, but that seems unlikely, from what I've seen on ebay now. Perhaps prices have jumped. I think there is the question of earlier models (pre-1998 ish) having a better valve and cam configuration too.. I must check my notes.
Always do your homework to avoid unfortunate expensive feckups, if you hang on a bit perhaps someone on the forum will come up with the goods 4 you.
Cheers, thanks for steady advice. will do, have made good progress so far, a bit further to go on Qn of IE and alternators/timing signals.
You probably know but if you are buying an engine get them to throw the headers / pipes in if you can as they are different across the models.
Hey there, I've got a 900 carbie engine in my shed from when i upgraded to a 1000. Also have a spare set of headers! Based in East Sussex. Will also have a GSXR 600 front end that is a straight swap if your interested.
Appreciated El Toro, mighty good of you to take a look in : Yes, please do close the thread. The deal is sealed.
