I finally bit the bullet today and bought the Akrapovic for my 950S, which I’d wanted ever since I got it. I love my 950S but always hated the sound, Euro 5 has finally beaten Ducati! My 2018 950, which had Euro 4, was perfectly acceptable but the sound of my S had more in common with my wife’s sewing machine than a motorcycle. Akrapovic say their end can doesn’t increase sound, just makes it deeper. That is fine with me because my days of running bikes with loud cans are long gone. It actually is a bit louder but, more importantly, it is deeper. Sounds more like a ‘real Ducati’ now! I also love the look. A very expensive mod but for me well worth it.
Nice. There don’t seem to be that many exhausts for the 950, or at least not good looking ones like this, the Termi and I quite like the QD one….
Thanks ozz. You’re right there’s not a lot available for the 950, although I suspect a lot of others would fit! I have to say that I really like my akra, and it definitely improves the sound. Ducati have always been pretty good at getting the most volume from various Euro restrictions but Euro 5 seems to have beaten them. I’m not a “young gun” wanting a very loud sound track, but my 950 S sounded very much like my wife’s sawing machine, so I was very happy to pay for a different exhaust system that not only looked better but also sounded better. Don’t buy it if you are looking for a very loud bike, to do that you need to do a decat, but definitely do it if you want something that sounds half decent but doesn’t annoy the neighbours too much!
I just like a nice deeper sound. I don’t take baffles out of any pipes I have had as you just start annoying people! Sorely tempted to get the QD which I found a good deal on or stretch to the Akra which I think looks the best one….
That looks fantastic. Does all the carbon come with that, or is it an extra? The full system on the new PP just comes with a measly carbon end cap and a powder coated heel guard, which for £2.5k is a bit of a piss take.
Well spotted. It’s a Tappezzeria. It’s supposed to be a comfort seat but it’s not much different to the standard seat. That really doesn’t matter though because I bought it for the looks and anyway and I’ve got used to it now and can easily ride several hours without a problem.
I love accident’s like that when you “accidentally” buy something. I bought a ukulele once after a few drinks, I didn’t realise until it turned up the next day. You won’t regret your akro purchase though, it looks good and sounds good and the PayPal credit deal makes the purchase very painless!
