just thought i'd share my first experience of riding my 94 900ss as its been a while waiting for the weather to dry up as i have only had it for 5 or 6 weeks, first set off was anxious but much easier than was expected after the info i had read, yeah its a bit of a different animal to jap engineered bikes but wow what machine ,no jap bike can stir that much feeling lol, its all different riding habits you have to learn quick but the sound on the over run is addictive, power for a 900 isn't as aggressive as i was expecting but the feel of wrestling an angry jolting finicky strangely engineered but beautiful machine is good for the soul and I'm reluctantly addicted against all my better judgements. i have felt what i have read about ducatis. its all true. gotta ride one before you die
Welcome to the enlightened side! A 900ss can still be quick enough to be rewarding and usable in the real world without risking your licence every 2 minutes.
These Italian masterpieces get into the blood very quickly, mine will be on the road for the 1st April.
My 94 900SS has been in the garage for too long now, it blew a fork seal over a year ago but I have now had the fork seals replaced and bushes checked. Just got to do belts and chain & sprockets, a few other jobs and pray for some sunshine then I will be out adding to the 72,000 miles on the clock. (It had 5500 on when I bought it at 11 months old in July 95).
Had mine a couple of years now and l still look at it and think it's perfect. Ok, it's got ridiculous steering lock, makes my shoulders ache and misses gears but apart from that it's perfect. Oh and neutral can be hard to find.

My yellow beast had its belts & valves service in January, mechanic was shocked I'd done 3000 miles since he'd put tyres on it 7 months before for MOT. It's way more fun than the (ancient!) 80hp dyno sheet suggests.

I really like my 93 SL, a couple of years ago i put a quiet clutch kit on from Biggelar and it's transformed it, starts and idles easier smoother running at slower speeds best money spent for a while. It's currently in the dining room having a tickle up which might involve storage of parts under the bed. . . . .I'm fine . . . .also in denial.
900ss First Ducati I had a chance of owning, I remember visiting a Ducati dealer in Eltham? around the mid 90s about 10 times looking at them, the SL I think was my dream bike. I now have an 888 a 998 and V4s due soon. It’s addictive. I”ll never sell them. Enjoy it.
